Iranian Hostage Crisis
Cecilia Vasquez & Cindy Ayala
On November 4, 1979, a group of students that took more than 60 American hostages. The cause of this was because of President Jimmy Carters decision to allow Iran depose Shah, a autocrat who had been expelled from his country some months before to go to the United States to get cancer treatment. The hostage taking was more than shahs medical care, it was a way for student revolutions to declare a break with Iran's past and also an end o American interference.
The students set their hostages free on January 21, 1981. It was 444 days that's more than year!. After the crisis began and couple of hours after president Ronald Regan delivers the inaugural address. A lot of historians believe that hostages crises cost Jimmy Carter a second term as a President.
