On Wednesday, April 26th, I joined the MAPSA team at the Capitol to learn about crucial legislative and legal updates that will impact charter schools. The day was very informative for me and I enjoyed learning more about every aspect of Charter Schools. Please take a look at the attached pdf to learn more information.

Parent Survey

Please take 10-15 minutes to complete our Annual Parent Survey. Your opinions are of the utmost importance to us. We have implemented changes to our facilities and programs over the years based on your feedback. We ask that you complete the survey by May 5, 2023. When you finish the survey, please contact your child/ren's homeroom teacher for your child to receive a dress-down coupon redeemable this school year.

New Enrollment Referral

As a way to say thank you to our current families, we are offering parents an incentive for referring new families to Holly Academy. For every child you bring into HA that is accounted for in our October count, you will receive $100. For example, if you refer a family with 3 kids that would be $300!! Go spread the word to all your family and friends about how remarkable HA is!

Mrs. Price would like to thank Mrs. Barton for helping two of our horticulture students to build a secondary shed for outdoor supplies. She worked closely with Ella Price and Grace Barton to build the shed from the ground up. They worked hard to complete this project.

Special Dress Down Day

There will be a special dress-down day on Monday, May 15th all Holly Academy students. This dress-down day is an additional day and was not part of the yearly payment. It is to benefit the 8th grade end-of-the-year events including the formal dance and graduation ceremony, which are very special events. The majority of our 8th graders have been here since kindergarten, and the events at the end of the year are meant to celebrate their successes. After Covid, we were unable to sustain a reasonable amount of money in the 8th-grade fund, which resulted in a shortage this year.

We are asking students to pay $1.00, or more, to participate in this dress-down.

There are so many special things our 8th graders get to do such as Washington D.C., formal awards and graduation ceremony, 8th-grade slideshow, 8th-grade formal dance at a local venue, Fensington Fun Day (on campus), Field Day, Mural and Rock Painting, the burial of uniforms, and 8th grade clap out. Holly Academy is unique in planning all these activities for our 8th graders. Please help us continue our traditions for this year’s class of 2023.

Please remember even students who pre-paid will still have to pay for the dress down on Monday, May 15. Many thanks for your continued support.

Staff Appreciation Week

May 1st thru May 5th is Staff Appreciation Week. Every year the Holly Academy PTO provides special treats for the staff during this week.

Here is what you and your student can do to get involved this week:

There is no gift too big or too small to honor our teachers and staff during this week. Most importantly, we ask that you say a simple “THANK YOU” to them.

· Write a “Thank you” note to a teacher or staff member

· Bring in a special treat or gift for a teacher or staff member

If you are interested in providing a staff member with a special treat, below is the link for a list of their favorite things:
