St Mary's School

Friday 5th November 2021

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope (Romans 15:13)

Dear whānau, tamariki and parishioners,

This week we welcome Cody and Chloey Eslava to St Mary's. Cody and Chloey are part of the Blessed Sacrament parish and were part of the group mentioned below who received their First Holy Communion; you, and your family are really welcome here at St Mary's.

Well, we 'rebooted' Mission day, Holy Communion and the production COVID style. Next up is the Kids' Tech Summit, Junior Nativity and our end of year Mass. The end of year Mass is the big one as we really want to celebrate the year, the successes that our children have had and ensure the leaving families are acknowledged for their commitment and service to the school.

We have a shared responsibility; a partnership between home and school for the good of the learner (our school vision)

We are so grateful to all our school families over the years for your support as parent help in the classroom, school trips and at camps, and we are certainly missing you. As you may be aware all schools fall under the health order that comes in on the 15th November: all workers, parent volunteers whether for class, sports or camps will have had to have the first vaccination, and after 1st January 2022 will need to be fully vaccinated. We are all agreed that it is just not the same without you.

As I said last time we are focusing on what's important - which is our children, our families and our faith. Let's stay being creative for a fabulous term 4.

God bless, kia kaha, Annie

Holy Communion Mass

Congratulations to these wonderful, blessed children and their families. This is the Sacramental group of 2021 who are full members of the Blessed Sacrament Parish. You are all very welcome.

School Production - CUT!!! It's a MOVIE

Congratulations to the Senior Syndicate on an excellent week of production activity. The Juniors just loved watching you all in Cinderella Rockerfella. The acting, singing and dancing was amazing! Well done to the marvellous staff that helped create our first production as a movie. Thanks SBS St James' Theatre who will be sharing our movie on the big screen - more information to come.

Te kupu o te wiki - the word of the week

The words this week Kia Kaha meaning be strong, get stuck in or keep going. How appropriate for this time we are all living right now. Kia kaha o te whānau - be strong family!

Helicopter landings

St Mary's is in the fortunate position to support our local community. Last Friday we had a special landing. The pilots and paramedics talked us through how we can we help save lives by just doing the right thing such as picking up rubbish and listening to instructions.

Congratulations tennis players

Well done to these fabulous players: Jack, Zavier and Finn who took out first, second and third (in that order) in last week'sEastern Primary School's tennis competition.

Reminder - teacher only day Friday 12th November, hopefully the sun is shining!
