Go outside while the weather's nice!
Sometimes a classroom change is just the thing to increase focus! On a nice day, consider going and sitting outside for part of your class time. Take some materials outside (books, journals, STAAR Ready or Countdown to STAAR, etc.) and find a nice place to camp out for thirty minutes or so. Let your interventionists, specialists, etc. know though, if they are pulling students (maybe they will join you!!). A change of scene might give everyone a little boost of energy! Definitely preface your little field trip with expectations for behavior, and use proximity and placement with students that might struggle with good choices. There are some great locations all around the outside of our building to sit and enjoy the weather on a nice day- take a walk and stake out your spot!
When you go home, think about doing the same thing! Go to a park and enjoy the weather with your family, with your dog, or by yourself. It's relaxing and good for the body and the brain!
