Tabar Talks
Welcome to another Advent edition of “Tabar Talks”.
Families and Friends of Corpus Christi Academy, we are excited as this Advent Season brings us closer to Christmas. This coming Sunday, the Third Sunday of Advent, is Gaudete Sunday, the day when we shift our reflection from “the Lord is Coming” to “the Lord is Near.” Rejoice! We are more than halfway to Christmas Day!
This week I would like to share with you an email I sent to my faculty and staff. Often, we are seen as Corpus Christi Academy, the whole entity, and fail to recognize all of the working parts that make “The Academy” such a great place. My faculty and staff are the only Christmas gift I need, so please enjoy the email I shared with them earlier this week.
The Reason for the Season
I wanted to reach out today and explain to all of you why I feel so lucky to be a part of the CCA family. Keep in mind, all of this has been taking place all year long and it has involved each and every one of you, but the fact that we are able to offer and provide support for each other, both personally and professionally, at a moment's notice is truly commendable. The continued ability to help our neighbor when things aren't going perfectly, the flexibility of everyone to provide for the needs of others, and the empathy exhibited for our students, especially when they are not perfect, are daily examples of our faith and our recognition of human dignity. It is on days like this that I can openly reflect, thank God, and recognize that I am so very appreciative of the family and the community that has been established and continues to grow at Corpus Christi Academy. The Lord has put me in the right place, with the right people, at the right time, and guess what? That makes me feel "all right", thank you all for inviting me into your community, thank you all for embracing me as part of the family, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY THANK YOU ALL FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO EVERYDAY!
Sincerely,
Mr. Matthew Tabar | CCA Principal

Giving Tree Grants Children's Wishes
The National Youth Advocate Program is providing foster care service to around 100 children this year, and have been placed with their welcoming foster families.
The children provided their wishes this Holiday Season. On the Christmas Giving Tree is an ornament with the child's name and wish. Return the gift with the child's name on a tag to the CCA School Office by Wednesday, December 18. Keep the ornament as a simple reminder of your heartfelt gift this season.

Blessing of the Bambinelli - Gaudete Sunday, December 15
Next week is the Third Sunday of Advent, or Gaudete Sunday. Each year on Gaudete Sunday the Pope invites the children of Rome to bring the bambinelli, the Baby Jesus from their Nativity scenes, to St. Peter’s Square to be blessed and to receive a special greeting from the Pope.
It is the custom at our Parish to do the same. I invite all of the children of the parish to bring their statues of the infant Jesus to Mass next weekend to be blessed. Boys and Girls, be sure to have your parents wrap them so that they will not be damaged and be sure to take very good care of them as you bring them to Mass.
As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ, we pause to bless these statues of Jesus, which will be placed in our mangers. The practice of erecting such mangers was begun by St. Francis of Assisi as a means to set forth the message of Christmas. When we look upon these figures, the Christmas Gospel comes alive and we are moved to rejoice in the mystery of the Incarnation of the Son of God.
Shoe Collection Drive
The American Heritage Girls are starting their bi-annual Shoe Collection Drive. By cleaning out your closets, you can help support our Troop and help others in developing countries by repurposing your shoes. Our goal is 2,500 pairs of shoes by January 18th. We are looking for new or gentle used shoes (all kinds, adults, kids, boots, sandals, high heels).
There will be a collection box by the St. Clare Statue in the school. Please bring your donated shoes to the school and place them in the box. We appreciate all your help to get us to our goal. If there are any questions, please contact Christy Raynor at (440) 684-0549. Thank you for your support.
