Although career awareness and exploration have always held a place in our schools, the economy, job market, state mandates and best practices indicate the need to better prepare all our students with information on post-secondary options and pathways to their future career.
It takes all of us working toether to help our students find their path and access the resources they need to reach their goals! Can you help? Read below to find out ways you may be able to help young people in their career journey!
We need YOU!
Do you own a business or work in a company that may be able to provide mentoring for a student? Could you spend some time sharing your career with a student who wants to learn more about your field of work? We are looking for engineers, medical professionals, entrepreneurs, skilled workers in various trades, IT, human resources, researchers, and chemists, to name a few. We are hoping to find classroom speakers, mock interviewers, lunch time speakers, and field trips. I'm sure you get the picture. We are open to all careers and opportunities.
If you are interested in any of these possibilities or have questions about how you can help, please reach out. We would love to work with you!
COLLEGE CORNER from the Counseling Office
A reminder to seniors that the counseling office needs 10 school days to process transcripts requests. January 1 application deadlines will need to be submitted by December 10, 2018.
PSAT results for tenth and eleventh graders will be sent to the student’s email accounts in mid-December. The email address will be based on the one the student entered on their PSAT answer sheet. The counselors will be presenting an overview of the results to the students, tentatively set for the week of December 17, 2018.
Summer opportunities hosted by colleges/universities, leadership organizations, or other career related programs will be posted on the high school counseling website page. Some students may be looking for specific topics as they relate to a career interest, attending a college program, or other type of summer enrichment. This page will be updated as resources are received in the counseling office.
