7 Mindsets

In the month of May we will focus on The Time is Now. The Time is Now teaches us that all your power exists in the moment. You cannot change the past and the future has not yet happened, so the only thing to do is take purposeful action in the present.

The four elements of The Time is Now are:

Embrace Every Moment- squeeze the most out of your experiences

Get in the Zone- think before you act

Let Yourself Be Vulnerable- attack a risk or face a fear!

Act on Purpose- take meaningful action towards your dreams

Create a vision board and develop an action plan with your children. Teach them how to prioritize, and encourage them to take positive and purposeful action toward their dreams. Sometimes, small steps can make the biggest difference, simply by taking action. It’s okay to plan, but while many people wait for the perfect plan or moment in time before they act, the happiest and most successful individuals take action all the time… even (and especially) when their plans aren’t perfect.

Class Placement Survey Now Available

Dear Parents,

I cannot believe it is time to start thinking about class placement for 2016-17. We have been busy behind the scenes setting next year up to be another successful and ridiculously amazing year. Now we need YOUR help! This is your opportunity to give us your feedback on class placements for your child. If you know of someone who will be attending Mashburn next year, please forward this link to them also. Please complete this by May 13th as we will be working on class placements after that.

Sincerely,

Tracey Smith

Visit https://goo.gl/S66QfF to complete the survey or ask your child’s homeroom teacher for a paper copy. Completion of the survey is not required.

Math Competition

On Saturday April 30th eleven Mashburn 4th and 5th grade Blue Bears met at West Forsyth High School and competed in Forsyth Countys 6th annual Pi Fight Contest. This math competition allows students from all over the county to compete individually and in teams to solve problems that require higher order reasoning and creative problem solving skills. Our eleven competitors have been working hard all year to prepare for this competition. We are very proud of their efforts. Although they did not bring home a trophy, they learned a lot and had a blast.

Congratulations to:

Ellie D, Ethan S, Phillip P, Owen M, Alex B, Arman Y, Riley C, Rachel Rose Y, Anvita S, Kylie C,

and Tyler R.

Meal Charges

As we come to the end of another school year, Forsyth County Food Services will no longer allow Negative charges to student accounts effective after meal service on Friday, May 6th 2016.

To ensure that your child can continue to enjoy school meals or to clear your student’s account of any negative balances, please send a payment (cash or check) to the school, or visit www.MyPaymentsPlus.com to make a payment online.
