Bear Bulletin
Week of October 31
From the Principal
Our annual Pumpkin Walk was a huge success and so much fun! THANK YOU to the HR Parents who helped coordinate and plan all of the creative tables/tents, the volunteers that helped give out treats and run the games, and to the many families that sent in candy. The weather was perfect for a fun family evening out!
Also, special thank you to Mrs. Emma Rush from the State Attorney General's Office who came to speak to parents about internet and social media safety. We had a great group of DFHS Teacher Cadets that volunteered their time to help provide supervision for BES students while parents were learning. We hope to host a repeat of this event in the spring as the information is very timely, especially for parents whose children have cell phones, social media, or play online games.
Ballentine Elementary is also gearing up for our annual fun-spirited competition between our Clemson and Carolina fans. We are collecting specific food items for the District Back Pack program that serves over 800 students weekly in District 5, many right here at BES. This competition will run through November 18th.

Richland County Public Library - Ballentine Branch
The library is fully open now! This is a great resource for families. Did you know that they will even pick out books for your child and provide book bundles through the drive-through? If they don't have a particular book at the local branch, they can get it from another branch. They also offer daily story time for toddlers. For older kids, ask them about their "Birding at Ballentine" program! Check out their website for events in our Ballentine branch.
Interested in Reviewing State Textbook Recommendations?
The Instructional Materials Review Panels have finalized their instructional materials recommendations for the 2022 adoption cycle. The student editions of each of the recommended programs will be on display from October 11 through November 14, 2022, at 12 review locations across the state and available virtually using publisher-provided links. A report of the Review Panel recommendations with citizen comments from the public review will be submitted to the State Board of Education on December 13, 2022. Upon approval of the panel recommendations, districts and schools will receive notification of the newly adopted materials.
