Central Elementary
Parent Newsletter 3/8/2022
A Note from Mr. Hamilton, Principal
Greetings,
It's hard to believe March is here. We look forward to seeing you either virtually or in-person at upcoming parent/teacher conferences. Next week marks the beginning of our third rotation of specials. Students will begin World Language with Angela Davis.
A few noteworthy things as of late specific to Central Elementary:
1. Hand2Hand: We're now a month in with this new program and partnership aimed at curbing weekend child hunger, and the positive impact it's having is already clear. If you are interested in learning more, or signing up, please contact the office.
2. MS Buddies: Thanks to the efforts of Jason Hernandez and Janie Mitchelson, we've recently launched a buddy program with the Middle School that partners MS student leaders with elementary students to create consistent supportive relationships.
3. 85% Drawing: As referenced last month, the vast majority of our students have received 0-1 discipline referrals for the entire year. This is impressive. To better recognize those consistently showing Respect, Pride, and Integrity, we are randomly drawing one student per grade each Friday, and awarding them a golden ticket equivalent to 10 Rocket Slips.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support. We look forward to a strong spring with a continued focus on strengths, purpose, and joy!
Cordially,
Cody

Important Arrival/Dismissal Reminder: Kindergarten
Please DO NOT park south of the sidewalk on the east side of the building near door #2. This area serves as our arrival and dismissal staging area for Kindergarten. Any vehicle traffic becomes a safety concern for our littles.
Other Arrival Reminders
The drop-off window begins at 8:35am. Teachers typically begin bringing their students into the building at roughly 8:42am to begin their morning routine, slightly ahead of first bell and the beginning of the school day, which occurs at 8:45am. We recognize this is a tight window of time. Please consider and be aware of the following:
- Please drop your child off closer to the 8:35 mark, if possible. This provides adequate time for lines to be formed, and for students to enter with their classmates.
- If you are arriving late and your child's line has already entered, please use door #1 (main office)
- Two staff members will be conducting a drop-off check at the back of the building each day to ensure students haven't been left behind a class who has already entered.
- We are interested in securing parent volunteers for similar checks at various locations. If you are interested, please contact the office at 744-1693.

A Message from the Foodservice Director
Menu Changes & Supply Chain Disruptions
I hear you and I share your frustrations regarding menu changes. Unfortunately, the changes are not due to my own decision, but rather an inability to obtain the product that is originally on the menu. We are experiencing extreme supply chain disruptions, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to get the items needed to follow the menu. I notify principals of any menu changes as soon as I am aware of them; please check weekly communications from your building for the most up to date information regarding the menu.
I wish I could say it's going to get better soon, but from everything I have been hearing and everything I have been experiencing, it may even get worse before it gets better. A few manufacturers just announced that they are suspending production of entire product lines until January 2022. I appreciate your understanding as I work through these challenges. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at burrowsc@reeths-puffer.org.
Thank you!
