New Student Enrollment for 2023-24 School Year

Frontier Schools is now accepting new student applications for the 2023-24 school year. The easiest and quickest way to apply is online at

The application deadline is February 1st, 2023.

Re-Enrollment for Current Students

Students who currently attend Frontier Schools and plan to return for the 2023-24 school year are exempt from the admission lottery if they notify the school of their intent to return by January 15, 2023.

Due to limited space for the upcoming year, we ask each parent/guardian to fill out this online re-enrollment form completely. This application form is designed for students who are currently enrolled. Applications received unsigned, incomplete, or after the January 15, 2023 closing date may not be considered for the 2023-24 school year.

The Funding Community Responds to Frontier

Three years ago, Frontier Schools board of directors and administration began a

concentrated effort to expand their presence among foundations and

corporations that support advancements in education in Kansas City.

To date more than $1 million has been collectively contributed to Frontier largely

from local foundations and business firms, but also from national corporations.

This funding support is wide ranging from enhancing academic achievement,

technological upgrades, student health capabilities, arts initiatives, mental health

and social services, scholarships and mentoring programs.

Frontier Schools thanks these funding partners. A list of those foundations and corporations follows:

National Honor Society Induction at FSHS

On December 5th, FSHS hosted its 2022 National Honor Society (NHS) induction ceremony in the school's gymnasium. Membership in this group represents a student's well-rounded commitment to academics, service, leadership, and character.

December Parent Academies

The Parent Academy is a FREE, district-wide initiative that strives to open the lines of communication between home and school by connecting parents to the resources and information needed to support their child's education.

Throughout the year, all campuses will host several Parent Academy events that will consist of educational and inspirational sessions covering a wide variety of topics; including, Conscious Discipline at Home, College Prep and Financial Aid, FAFSA, NWEA, etc.

Community Service Hours, Credit Requirements, College Admission, Financial Aid Terminology, Upcoming Scholarship Opportunities.

STEAM Family Night at FSI Elementary

On December 8th, FSI Elementary hosted a STEAM Family Night for students and families. It was a night full of fun STEAM-related activities and stations that everyone enjoyed.

FSI Elementary Performs "Flakes" Musical

On December 9th, 2nd grade students at FSI Elementary put on a fun and festive "Flakes" Musical for their families and friends. Students dressed up as snow flakes or in their favorite holiday outfit to perform winter songs, including "Cold Snap", "We're Flakes", "SNIRT", "Nothing Special" and "One in a Million"! A sure way to get everyone in the holiday spirit!

Shout out to Ms. Mercan, K-3rd Music Teacher, for all of her hard work in preparing students!

The Rainbow Fish Musical

On December 14th and 15th, FSHS Drama Club students performed "The Rainbow Fish Musical" for 4th & 5th grade students in the school's gymnasium at FSI Middle. 4th and 5th grade students thoroughly enjoyed the musical!

Holiday Sing Along at FSI Elementary

On December 16th, students at FSI Elementary came together to sing about different holidays; including, Christmas, Hanukkah, Eid, Kwanza, and songs about winter, cold, and snow. It was a fun way for all students to celebrate together.

FSE Winter Band Concert

On Thursday, December 15th, our talented FSE Band students put on a fabulous performance for students, staff and families in the school's gymnasium. We are so proud of your hard work and dedication...keep playing!

Shout out to Mr. Banks, Music Teacher, for all of his hard work in preparing students for this special evening.

After School Clubs

There are many opportunities for students to get involved in after school clubs, such as: Advanced Research Club, Gateway Readers' Club, Girls on the Run Club, Health Occupations Students of America Club, Writer's Workshop Club, Math Club, Fishing Club, Cooking Club, I.T. Club, Kindness Club, Art & Craft Club, Video Game Design Club, Chess Club, Fitness Club, Environmental Club, etc.

Home Visits

Teachers and school staff have visited 415 students in 360 homes since the start of the 2022-23 school year.

Home visits are paramount in bridging cultural gaps that might exist. These visits also provide opportunities for staff to understand their students better by visiting them in their home environments.

Inclement Weather Procedure

During inclement weather, Frontier Schools will implement a school closing policy to ensure the safety of our students.

Students may be released early or classes may be canceled entirely due to inclement weather. Please be familiar with the following information sources in the event of school cancellations, early releases or late starts.

Channels of Communication:

1. School Website:

Please check your school's website for information regarding school closings and other cancellations within minutes of a decision.

2. School Messenger:

Phone and optional voice/text messages are sent to school families when classes are cancelled, delayed or students are released early.

3. Social Media:

We will post information on the Frontier Schools District Facebook and Twitter pages.

4. Radio & TV:

Local Stations share announcements on-air and on their websites.
