What was it?

The Spanish-American War occurred 1898. It was a conflict between the United States and Spain that ended Spanish colonial rule in the Americas and resulted in U.S. acquisition of territories in the western Pacific and Latin America.

Why was it significant?

The U.S got more land which resulted in more money and power. Also, it resulted in more resources to live on and trade.The Spanish-American War signaled the emergence of the US as a great power onto the world,
