DPS Earns Grant to Receive Coding and STEM Equipment
- a robotics set
- beginner coding set
- coding cube set, and
- a drone set.
We plan to start with using these in our After School Program (ASP) and incorporate them into the classrooms as well. A big thank you to Kristi Zucker who has already incorporated lots of STEM learning into our elementary ASP.
We also recently surveyed our 7-12 students to determine if they were hands-on, auditory or visual learners...and found that:
- 7th grade: more were visual learners (59%)
- 8th grade: more were tactile (hands-on)
- 9th grade: very equal in all 3 learning styles
- 10th grade: more were tactile (58%)
- 11th grade: more were tactile (50%)
- 12th grade: almost all were visual learners!
In addition, we took the Clifton Strengths Finder from Gallup with our staff and high school students, and are displaying the top 5 strengths of our staff on the board outside of Mrs. Epley's room. Students were encouraged to add their strengths to their resumes as talking points for their upcoming mock interviews!
Thank You, Veterans!

This group has worked concession stands and had clothing drives, and will be working the Trunk or Treat Event on October 31st. Working with the VB, FB and cross country teams and with community support, the group raised $600 for the Thayer County Health Services Foundation for cancer patients. They have hopes to attend a hockey game in the near future, as well as hosting another 5th Quarter Event.
