Celebrating the Light We See
At BMSA, we understand our role in partnering with parents to raise resilient, compassionate, citizens who have the skills to understand other's perspectives, communicate their own, respectfully disagree, and seek win-win solutions.
With Martin Luther King Jr. Day/Human Right's Day on Monday, January 18, we wonder what more we could be doing to help create a more compassionate and inclusive world. Martin Luther King Jr. encouraged people to, "Be the Change you Wish to See in the World." In times of struggle, Mr. Rogers told us to "look for the helpers." We can let circumstances dampen our light, or we can look for and celebrate each other's light.
At BMSA, we see so much light, so much helping. Every day, we have opportunity to hear other's perspectives and share our own. When conflicts, mistakes, and challenges naturally arise, students and staff encourage each other to handle them mindfully and learn from them. Parents and staff collaborate to understand what students need. Parents talk to their students about their days, seeking to understand and support them.
Thank you for partnering with us in this community. We ask that you continue to communicate with staff if you see a need that we may not. We want to take care of every member of our community and, in order to do that, we rely on input from all sources. We care and we will listen.

Mindful Mornings Mon-Thurs in the BMSA Gym
That's why we Counselors are excited to provide an opportunity for students to practice mindfulness throughout the week. As we begin this program, we are starting with just 15 students at a time to provide a safe place where students can physically distance. If you're interested in having your child attend, go to Counseling Services / Mindful Mornings (westada.org) for details and to sign up, or go straight to the sign up page https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0F4FA8A622ABF58-mindful
Beginning January 19th, we will hold 10-minute sessions beginning at 8:35, Mondays-Thursdays. If there is more interest than capacity, we will explore other ways to provide this opportunity to more students. *Masks and social distancing is required.
