“If our desire for justice is not rooted primarily in the pursuit of restoration, then reconciliation will be nearly impossible to achieve. It is precisely because grace is undeserved that makes it grace.” -Jamie Arpin-Ricci

1. Circle Back: Retroactive Practices, Restorative Justice
We spent some professional learning time together last year with Michael B. about the concept of Restorative Justice & Restorative Practices (Circles & the Restorative Questions being examples of Restorative Practices). While we are not spending as much professional learning time on this this year the work is still important and something we want to keep exploring and developing. It is not going a way, it should just be a part of the way we do business.
Below is a short video that give a general review of what Restorative Justice is and why it's important.

3. Time to Think: Using Restorative Questions
Please note that these questions can be a powerful tool regardless of where the challenge occurs. As such we are getting a few more posters to post in the Cafeteria and on the playground for reference/reminders we will also make available small laminated versions that can be kept on your lanyard with your id/fob that we will have in the office.
Click for a very short article discussing the use of the restorative questions.
4. From the Office
- Safety Minute: Please be sure to check a radio out and check out with the office whenever you take students outside. Please also let the office know if you leave the building. We care about you and if there is an emergency we need to be able to account for you!
- Healthy Half-Second: Flu Season is around the corner! Please start reminding students/classes to cough into their elbows and to wash their hands with soap and water whenever they visit the restroom.
- Observations: Hannah sent details about evaluations this year. Walk-through's begin next week.
