The Trailside Twister
March 2019
Principal's Corner
One of the areas of focus for the Waterford Graded School District in regards to human resources is self care and the wellness of all staff members. On Friday, February 22nd all district employees had the opportunity to attend wellness sessions during the morning segment of our in-service. There were roughly thirty sessions to choose from and topics ranged from financial tips to advice on how to stay mentally and physically healthy. This made me think to remind all of you about our free Aurora Student and Family Assistance Program offered by the district. All students and families living in the same household are eligible for the program. You can find more information at aurora.org/eap or you can call 800-236-3231.
Be well!

PBIS NEWS - Mindful Moments in March
Benefits of mindfulness include decreased anxiety, emotional regulation, improved decision making abilities and improved focus.
This month our goal is to incorporate 2 Mindful Moments into our students' daily schedules, more if needed.
Mindful MOMENTS can be 1-2 minutes or longer. Some examples maybe belly breathing, soft music, movement breaks, and dim lighting.
The PBIS team is looking forward to Mindful Moments throughout our school.

Congratulations Trailside! As we conclude our Hoops for Heart fundraiser I must say I am so impressed by all of our participants. As a school, Trailside raised over $1000 more than last year with a final count of $5,002 being donated to the American Heart Association.
Our top fundraiser was 1st Grade, Mrs. Boucher's class, Jeshua Evanoff with a total donation of $827.00!
Again, Thank you for your hard work and dedication to this great organization. Thank you gifts, from the American Heart Association should be arriving at Trailside mid-March.
