7th Grade Delta - Bricksters

We had a great day!

Bricksters qualify for Union Station

I wanted to send some pictures of our team from the competition; I was very proud of all of the students! We are very fortunate that our district financially supports this competition for Delta students. After the competition, we spent some time reflecting on the opportunities and experiences that the FLL Project/Robot/Missions/Core Values had to offer. We worked very hard getting ready for the competition; this was an excellent real life learning project / educational discovery opportunity. The student's experiences included researching trash/ recycling, designing/ ordering a team t shirt, building a robot, programming missions, writing a script, performing a skit and working together as a team! They spent countless hours getting ready for this event, recognizing and meeting deadlines, getting organized for the competition, and meeting the bus at 6:15 am! Every year our teams are beginners and accomplish so much! Here are the pictures from our great day and I will also include the student reflections!

Enjoy the holidays with your family. I will send a newsletter in January about our upcoming projects in class.

FLL Reflections from students:

It helped us with problem solving.

Robotics relate to the real world with engineering and also programming.

Don't argue and believe in each other.

Arguing only slows you down.

I saw the effort that went into the programs and I saw the excitement, stress, and problem solving that people put into the robotics/missions.

The project gave us the opportunity to improve our research skills.

This competition is a team effort; stay focused and use your time wisely.

The robotics helped me want to pursue being in business or technology. It helped me comprehend how to solve missions and tackle tough obstacles.

It made learning meaningful because it was challenging and it was satisfying to see the end result.

The most difficult thing for me was working with people. I am an individual person so I wanted to do it all. It will help me in the future by being able to work with a group and listen to others points and ideas.

Robotics made our team unite and work together. Since we solved our problems together, good things happened. What we learned from robotics can be used at different times.
