STAFF SPOTLIGHT
5ive things you may not know about ... Mr. Witkowski
He met his wife when they were on the UNH Fencing team. She beat him in their first bout together. He went on to become captain of the sabre team senior year, and helped lead his team to 3rd place for men’s sabre and 5th place for women’s sabre at the USA club fencing championships in Wisconsin.
He managed many of the education programs at the New Bedford Whaling Museum for several years. Among the most memorable experiences were digging up dolphin carcasses from several feet of manure in Acushnet, racing whaleboats competitively against the Azorean and Mystic Seaport teams, and meeting the cast of In the Heart of the Sea in New York (including Chris Hemsworth, Tom Holland, and director Ron Howard).
He had a lot of pets when he was a kid: ducks, chickens, snakes, turtles, dogs, cats, a robin, a cockatoo, gerbils, rats, bunnies, lizards, fish... he doesn't have any pets currently, but his parents have an enormous pet pig named Peanut.
He and Mrs. Waitner were friends in college. He lost touch with her after, until he was hired at CMHS and was brought upstairs to meet the other biology teacher.
Mr. Lamoureux’s mom was his biology and AP biology teacher at Apponequet. She was the best teacher he ever had, and is the reason he ultimately became a high school biology teacher.

Mrs MacIntosh was so impressed with Kayleigh Shurtleff.
She saved her math reference sheets from Mrs Carter and used them in class this week to help her with word problems!

Students in Mr. Witkowski's Cohort A Biology classes dissected frogs and rats this week as part of the anatomy unit. It was a challenging lab, but they really de-livered! I know, I know: the gall of telling dissection jokes. Some of the puns are tough to stomach, but no one has had the heart to tell me to stop (Mr. W's jokes)

CARING CRUSADERS
CMHS students should have received a reusable water bottle courtesy of our local
substance use prevention coalition, Carver Cares. Students are invited to
participate in the initiative by writing on the bookmark found in their water bottle
and sharing it on social media, or sharing photos of their healthy coping skills in
action! The bookmark asks students to reflect on things that bring joy, such as
hobbies, sports, music, etc. Students are encouraged to share photos of activities
that bring them joy with @CaringCrusaders_CMHS on Instagram, or via email to
CarverCares@gmail.com. By entering a photo submission by March 15 th , the
student will be entered into a raffle to win a $25 Amazon gift card! Please contact
Katelyn with any questions at CarverCares@gmail.com.

COUNSELING CORNER
This is a reminder to all students in grades 8-11 to log into their ASPEN accounts and request classes for next year! We have a lot of great new electives to go along with our new pathways so check out the Program of Studies to read the descriptions of the courses and look at the scope and sequences of the different pathways before making your final choices. We are hoping to run all of our new classes, but we can only do that if we know you are interested in taking them so don't delay. It is important that all students request at least 40 credits by Monday, March 8th! Please email your guidance counselor if you need any help!
