Dos and don'ts to respond if anxious student refuses to go to school
"If a student with a disability starts missing school, and both the student and the parents say it's because of anxiety, an IEP team should not just accept it and agree to let the student learn at home. The team may violate child find obligations if it doesn't delve deeper and reevaluate the student. 34 CFR 300.111 (a)(1)(i). Special education directors should ensure teams review the following dos and don'ts to avoid denying students with anxiety -- or other underlying issues -- FAPE."
Spring Respite Event Was a Success!

Terri Cox- We are so thankful for Terri's dedication and work with our students in transportation. She really supported a TJH student going above and beyond expectations.
Dr. Ann Le - She is always willing to share her resources and provide feedback when needed! She has also done a great job maintaining a professional demeaner during a few highly stressful meetings these last couple of months.
Dr. Michelle Howard - For taking the time to recognize her team even when she is beyond busy. She always tries to maintain the positivity and help her crew move forward during these hectic times!
Congratulations to Beth Darbe who will be transitioning to a new role next year at Region IV as their new Education Specialist in Speech and Language. Although we will miss her leadership and collaboration in the daily activities in Tomball, we are excited to have another Tomball ISD veteran supporting us at the regional level.
We love our OT's! Happy OT Month!
