Message from the Zoo Keeper..
Alright my wild bunch.....this week is going to be a mixture of craziness, mixed with a little chaos, sprinkled with minimal sleep equaling in the perfect week!!!! Thank you for all you do! Even though these weeks pose a higher stress level for us, I do believe it is important to build in that 'fun' component at school! We ask so much of our students, so take this time and enjoy them and allow them to enjoy us! As you are trying to control your students, remember, I have the TOUGHEST job in wrangling the Teacher Wild Animals!!!!
Love ya
JH
United Way
I've now had the opportunity to speak to most of you about the 2019 United Way campaign. As a summary, the goal for MCSD is to increase our contribution by 10%. This would take the total of MCSD giving over $20,000!
We have incentives in place again this year:
- Every building that meets the 10% goal will have a lunch provided by the Senior Leadership Team.
- For each site, every staff member who contributes $20 or more OR increases his or her giving by 10% will be placed in a drawing for one personal leave day.
- Every staff member who contributes any amount will be eligible for the grand prize which is a day on the river with Zack Allen and 3 of your friends and/or family. I've included a couple of pictures from the trip taken by last year's winners.
Please take time to determine how much you are able to contribute to this goal. The deadline to turn in your pledge card to the main office of your site is Friday, November 16. Remember, a strong United Way in our community is a good thing for our kids.
Dr. Ulrich
If you'd like, you can place your contribution in Hafey's box!

HALLOWEEN Day Plan....
Just a reminder....Please communicate to your parents...
Announcement: Halloween Plans
Halloween will be here before we know it! In order to continue learning AND celebrate this holiday, I need to remind/share out the expectations for Sunset Elementary in regards to October 31 - Halloween Day.
Students are able to come to school in costumes under the following guidelines:
1. They MUST be able to learn in them ALL DAY...
2. No face paint allowed
3. No masks of any sort allowed
4. No weapons of any sort
4. No blood or scary costumes allowed
An all school costume parade will begin promptly at 2:00 within the building. Once all students have paraded through Sunset, they will be split into teams to parade through Sunset Meadows and Sandrock Ridge. They will return immediately back to school to end the day with class parties.
Parents - if you choose to dress up and come to Sunse t, you must be recognizable for safety precautions.
Teachers will not help students into their costumes, fix their costumes, and or be responsible for costumes throughout the day. Remember, this is still a day of learning - students will be responsible and expected to participate in all aspects of their day (PE, recess, ...).
Classes going to Sandrock Ridge - up the path are:
Smith, M. Jones, Seely, Neton/Crookston, Zulian, Green, Beaver
(Steele, Cookston, Gunderson, Sanchez please help with this group)
Classes going to Sunset Meadows - through the forest (Arboretum) are:
