Weekly Updates for Rose Valley Elementary School
Maryland Schools Closure until May 15, 2020
Dear Prince George’s County Public Schools Community:
Today, State Superintendent of Education Dr. Karen Salmon announced that all Maryland public schools will be closed until Friday, May 15.
Over the last several weeks, COVID-19 cases have continued to climb statewide with the largest number right here in Prince George’s County. In that light, the decision to extend the statewide school closures is understandable.
While there is no replacement for learning inside a classroom setting, we will do our best to keep our students moving forward and focused on the learning process. Teachers and staff will continue to implement our distance program. Instructional packets are available for download on the PGCPS website or pick up in limited quantities at our school meal sites. Lessons for prekindergarten through fifth grade students are also available on PGCPS-TV. Our meals program will continue on Mondays and Wednesdays.
I know that you have many questions about next steps. Please join me for a series of telephone town halls starting next week:
- Tuesday, April 21 — Students (held with Student Member of the Board Joshua Omolola)
- Thursday, April 23 — Employees
- Wednesday, April 29 — Family and community
All town halls will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. We will provide dial-in information for the town halls closer to the events.
This has been an incredibly challenging time for our entire PGCPS community. Please continue to keep all victims of COVID-19 in your prayers. Remember those who have experienced losses among their families, loved ones and school communities. I am beyond grateful for your patience and resilience in the face of unimaginable circumstances. We began this year PGCPS proud and we will continue this year PGCPS strong, even from a distance.
Sincerely,
Monica Goldson, Ed.D.

Atentamente,
Monica Goldson, Ed.D.
