Please join us for the eighth installment of the Fall 2019 H. Wayne Snider Distinguished Guest Lecturer Series, as we host Anzio Williams, Vice President of News at NBC10 & Telemundo 62
Anzio Williams joined NBC10 in July of 2012. Prior to joining NBC10 he spent 12 years with Hearst Television working as News Director in Sacramento, California and New Orleans, Louisiana. He also served as Assistant News Director at NBC stations in Orlando, Florida and in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Williams started his career as a sports and news producer in Greensboro, North Carolina. He moved on to Miami, Florida, where he managed weekend news coverage. His next stop took him to Cincinnati, Ohio where he was an executive producer overseeing newscasts and special sports programming.
Williams has a distinguished record of accomplishments as a news manager. Most notably, it was during his tenure at WDSU that Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. Knowing it was a critical time to keep the community informed, Williams’ newsroom staff stayed on track through the most difficult circumstances and aggressively covered the storm and its aftermath.
Williams is the recipient of nine Emmy Awards for Outstanding Achievement, Best Newscast, Breaking News and Continuing Coverage. He was also a member of news teams honored with six Edward R. Murrow and two George Foster Peabody Awards.
Williams currently serves on two boards in the Philadelphia area: the American Diabetes Association and the Urban League of Philadelphia. He is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. Originally from Durham, North Carolina, he graduated from North Carolina A&T State University with a B.A. in Broadcast News.
