What's happening in the classroom?
Physical Education - Coach Baker and Coach Milne
We are finishing up our first groups by playing LaCrosse and Floor Hockey games and will switch groups to do the other activity next week. We completed another Fitness Day with a Tabata workout and will do an outside run for Cardio Day this week.

Spanish - Mrs. Lackey
8th Graders are continuing with their adjectives unit to describe themselves and their friends/classmates/famous people in Spanish.
Next week they will learn how to ask and answer basic informational questions.
They will take a vocabulary quiz over the adjectives and informational questions on Thursday.
App Creators - Mrs. Delaney
We have been busy making apps and creating conditional algorithms! Next week, our focus will be on transferring our knowledge of conditional statements to our app creation. We will go back to the Germ Guide App and add lots of conditions (if/then, if/then/else if, etc.)
Vocal Music - Mrs. Harris
8th Grade Math - Mrs. Borgmeyer
Borgmeyer's 8th grade classes will take a quiz next week over the types of equations we have covered up to that point. We will then continue with our unit. We will be picking up the pace a bit so students will need to make sure they are using time wisely to complete practice work. Work not completed in class will need to be finished at home. Students who could benefit from tutoring should be attending Academic Lab after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays as their schedule allows.
Geometry, Algebra, and 8th grade Math - Mr. Cerutti
Algebra classes tested over Writing and Solving Linear Equations. We will be working on a unit in which we look at graphing equations in various forms over the next couple of weeks.
Cerutti's 8th grade Math classes have taken a quiz over solving algebraic equations and expressions and are now beginning to put those together with proportional relationships in order to learn how to graph using slope and y-intercepts. They will test over this in the next couple of weeks.
Social Studies - Mrs. Marshall
The world is now connected! Europe is no longer isolated and a global exchange of new ideas, crops, animals, culture and education has begun! We have concluded our Age of Exploration Unit with a test on Friday 9/24. I plan on returning and reviewing the test next week. Retakes for this test will be allowed, during Academic Lab or FPC, until Friday 10/8.
Science - Mrs. Gunther
8th grade ELA - Mrs. Henderson
This week we will begin writing objective summaries. Just like a detective's notes, objective summaries are just the facts... no opinions involved. As we work on these, students will have a small amount of class time to work on the objective summaries in their case file book project.
Students will present their case files in class on October 15th, and the projects will need to be turned in by October 14th.
I can't wait to see the evidence they are building as they complete their mystery books!
