Third Grade in the News
September 22 - September 26
What we are learning this week....
Math with Mrs. Moore: Next week we will begin analyzing frequency tables, bar graphs and pictographs. Please check Mrs. Moore's website for links to math practice websites! You will begin to see graded work coming home. As a reminder here is the breakdown:
MS: Mastered the standard’s expectations
AS: Approaching the standard’s expectations
IPS: Insufficient Progress toward the standard
Science with Mrs. Naragon: This week, we will wrap up our landforms unit. We will explore different landforms, the features of landforms and how landforms are formed.
Social Studies with Mrs. Naragon: Your student will be coming home with a blank notebook on Friday (today). Please spend some time with your child decorating the cover of the notebook. You may use scrapbook paper, construction paper, stickers, pictures, magazine cut outs, etc... All that we ask is that your child's name is prominently visible on the cover. Once the notebook is fully decorated, please wrap the entire notebook in packaging tape so that their decoration does not get damaged, fall off, etc.. throughout the year. Please have your child return the notebook on Tuesday (September 23) so that we can begin working on the inside of the notebook. If you have any questions, please send Mrs. Naragon an email.
Language Arts with Mrs. Trueblood: We will be finishing up our persuasive writing unit by writing as a part of our PBL. Each group will be persuading the audience that their field trip would be the best place for our third grade field trip. We will also be looking at the skill Compare and Contrast by comparing two different books. Please continue to have your child read thirty minutes each night.
PBL: Learners will spend time this week writing their persuasive paper to help persuade our wonderful PTO to sponsor the field trip of their group's choice.
Just a reminder.....
Please check and sign your child's planner EVERY night!
