Mrs. Greene's 3rd Grade
August 31, 2018
A Great Week!
We finished MAP Testing! Both Reading and Math are finished and the results will be mailed home to you September 21. I will print off a sheet with your child's data and put it in his/her Data Binder next week. We will analyze the results and create goals accordingly. Once this is finished, the data binders will be sent home.
The Scholastic Book order came in today. The books were sent home with the students that ordered. This is always a fun day for the students.
I opened up the DOJO STORE for the first time. It was an eye-opener for a lot of students. The students realize that they need at least 25 Dojo points to shop, so every point they earn or lose throughout the week matters.
We ended our day today with Community Circle. We spent a few minutes evaluating our time so far in 3rd grade. There were some very insightful thoughts about our first few weeks together. One of the best thoughts was this..."In our class there is a good balance of fun and serious." That quote was from Cort. I thought it was a very thoughtful comment and very true of what happens each day. If the fun doesn't balance the serious hard work, I will lose these kids. So...I will push them (lovingly), expect nothing but their best, and reward their efforts with fun!
Please don't hesitate to call or email with questions you may have.

Special Helper - Logan
Logan was an enthusiastic helper this week. One of the jobs of the helper is to decide who will line up first when we exit Room 9. Logan really enjoyed this task and tried to fairly allow both the ladies and gentlemen equal time to be first.
