Newsletter Week 7, Term 3

Huirangi Primary School, Monday 5th September 2022

Kia Ora Koutou, Hello Everyone!

We have had another fortnight of busy-ness. It seems COVID is still lingering in our community. Isolation rules state that if you are a Household Contact, you must isolate for 10 days. If you or your child have had COVID-19, you do not need to isolate again for 3 months if someone you live with tests positive. This is because the risk of reinfection during this period is low. We are prepared to send work home for your child if they are well and in isolation.

Our Mid-Year Achievement Data is really pleasing. This has been presented to the BOT and I can confidently say that we are on track to achieve the end of year targets we have set. With nearly another term down, I am sure these results continue to rise. It is awesome to see such wonderful progress right across the school.

Our Home and School was offered the opportunity to have a Sausage Sizzle at the Big Jim's Sale last weekend. Despite the freezing conditions, a very small group of helpers gave up their time to raise money for our kura.

Thanks to those who helped, but in particular; Jo, Alicia, Ms. Southee, Kaylee and Ella. Your time has been appreciated. Thank you! We really need more volunteers to support our Home and School. Even if it is for a short amount of time at events. Many hands make light work, and all money raised goes towards your children!

Ballot for Out of Zone Students

Huirangi School-Application to Enrol

2023

Enrolment at Huirangi School is governed by an enrolment scheme, details of which are available at the school office or on our website. Students who live within our home zone have the right to enrol at any time.

Huirangi School Board of Trustees wishes to advise prospective parents and whānau that we are likely to have up to 20 out of zone places available at Years 0-5 in 2023. The exact number of out of zone places will depend on the number of applications received from students who live within the school’s home zone.

Applications are now being invited for those who will become, or are already, eligible for enrolment during this time. Application forms are available from our school office.

Applications for out of zone students must be received by the school before 1pm on Monday 19th September 2022.

If the number of out of zone applications exceeds the number of places available students will be selected by ballot. If a ballot is required, it will take place at 3pm on Monday 19th September 2022, and parents will be notified of the outcome that day.

Term 4 2022

Huirangi School is likely to have up to 10 out of zone places available at Years 0-4 for Term 4 2022 beginning 17 October.

Pets Day-Tuesday 25th October

If you have ordered a chicken, there is a possibility that they will be ready for collection tomorrow at the end of the day. An alert will be sent on the app when they arrive. The guide to raising a chicken has been sent home today.

This year we are trialling having our Pets Day on a week day. Tuesday 25th October is the day after Labour Day, which will give all of our students the school holidays, plus the long weekend to prepare.

This is a school day, all students are required to be here. It is going to be loads of fun with lots of food, stalls, raffles and auctions.

We are also going to be having a Men's Cake Auction. So all you budding male bakers out there, start thinking about the amazing creation you are going to bake for us to auction off at the conclusion of Pets Day. This will surely be the biggest money earner that Huirangi Pets Day has ever had!

Huirangi Home and School - fundraising@huirangi.school.nz

This term's major fundraiser will be the Colour Fun Run - Thursday 22nd September.

Pets Day - Term 4, Tuesday 25th October 2022.
