FINAL REMINDER: ENROLLMENT VERIFICATION MONDAY
Faculty will complete enrollment verification for their courses 2/1 - 2/2 in WebAdvisor (Monday or Tuesday of Week 2). All faculty should keep track of attendance for the first two weeks in order to facilitate your ability to complete enrollment verification. Champlain College must verify enrollment of all students in order to properly distribute financial aid money.
Academically related activities other than class attendance can qualify for verifying enrollment. Please read the instructions to understand what qualifies. Instructions for Enrollment Verification
CLT DIVERSITY, EQUITY, INCLUSION, & BELONGING EVENTS SPRING 2021
This semester, faculty, staff and students have come together to create many opportunities for our community to develop our knowledge and skills in the areas of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. Here is the list of events supported by the CLT being offered this semester. Please see calendar invitations for more details or any changes to the schedule.
FACULTY & STAFF LEARNING COMMUNITY SIGN-UPS
Faculty and staff are invited to join a variety of learning communities. Please review the Spring 2021 flyer listing the learning groups meeting this semester. Please sign up soon to reserve your book and your spot, as many groups are capped. See calendar invitations for details. Reach out to rmills@champlain.edu with any questions.
SPRING 2021 INTERNSHIP INFORMATION
Champlain is committed to supporting choice for students in regard to virtual or in-person internships during the Spring 2021 semester. Faculty overseeing internship courses will add a clear statement in their syllabi that students have the ability to pursue the course requirements in either setting. It is expected that all students will adhere to both Champlain College’s and their internship site’s policies regarding COVID-19 guidelines and requirements. As such, there may be limitations on the number of in-person positions at any one internship location.
Students are required to sign an agreement and waiver prior to starting their in-person internship, acknowledging their responsibilities and the health risks related to COVID-19.
For internship sites arranged by Champlain or a faculty member (as opposed to internships arranged by a student), the host organization is required to sign an MOU with Champlain acknowledging its responsibilities and the health risks related to COVID-19.
REMINDER: START COVID TESTING BEFORE ON-CAMPUS INSTRUCTION
In-person classes are scheduled to begin on February 8th. As a reminder, faculty who choose to teach in-person should be participating in our COVID weekly surveillance testing program and must get a negative test result prior to your first in-person class. Faculty who are teaching in-person are welcome to come to campus next week to start testing. COVID testing is in Perry Hall, Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
NEW ACADEMIC POLICY: CLASS RECORDING POLICY
There has been a new academic policy added to the College Catalog: a Class Recording Policy. If you have any questions, please contact your Dean.
Class Recording Policy: Students may use a recording of a class for their own academic purposes. They may not share, replicate, or publish the recording, in whole or in part, or use the recording for any other purpose, without the written approval of the instructor. This includes the dissemination of the recording via private or public email and/or social media. This Class Recording Policy balances the legitimate uses of classroom recording, the intellectual property of the faculty, and the privacy of individual students and faculty. Failure to adhere to the Class Recording Policy may be regarded as a violation of Champlain College’s Standard of Conduct.
FACULTY CHAIRS: NEW & CONTINUING
Leslie Averill, Vice President for Academic Affairs, is pleased to announce new and continuing Faculty Chairs. Lindsey Godwin continues as Stiller Chair. Robert (Bob) Mayer continues as Finney Chair.
Congratulations to Don Haggerty of both the Stiller School and Champlain College Online, who will hold the Appreciative Inquiry Chair for Spring 2021; and to Elizabeth (Liz) Gauffreau of Champlain Online, who will hold the Perry Chair for Spring 2021. Let’s celebrate these faculty Chairs for exemplifying the talent, commitment and innovation of our Champlain College faculty members.
