Summer Updates

I hope everyone has had a great summer break and ready to return to school on Wednesday, September 1st! Please take a few minutes to read this newsletter for updates and helpful links for the start of the 2021-2022 school year, upcoming community service and local employment opportunities.

I want to thank all of the staff & students that have worked this summer to get our building ready for our full return to in person learning.

First Day of School, Wednesday, September 1st!

We look forward to seeing all Milton High School students on Wednesday, September 1st!

All students will report to their Advisory period by 7:50AM! All students will receive their schedule at this time and will review school policies and expectations. An email is going out to all families with Advisory assignments prior to the first day of school.

As Governor Baker, Commissioner Riley, and Superintendent Jette have stated, all MPS students and staff will be required to wear masks in the school building. The following will also be in place at Milton High for our students and staff:

  • Along with our hands free water refilling stations, water stations will be set up in the building for all students and staff to stay hydrated during the warm fall days..be sure to bring a water bottle!
  • While there are no social distancing guidelines for breakfast or lunch in the cafeteria, we are going to be asking students to be mindful of where they sit during these times. All lunches will be held in the cafeteria, Wildcat Cafe and outside in the courtyard (weather permitting). While we know lunch is a short window of time each day, we will ask students to keep masks on when not eating and to be mindful of how close they are sitting to their peers.
  • As stated above, for all indoor activities, including PE, Athletics, Theatre, Clubs, masks must be worn anytime in the building.
  • Any student who wishes to wear a mask outdoors is welcome to do so.

As the year progresses, guidelines will be adjusted as needed.

Milton High School Orientation

Milton High School is ready to welcome our incoming freshmen – the Class of 2025! Please join us on Monday, August 30th from 3-5pm for orientation. MHS Student Leaders will be your hosts and will show you all that MHS has to offer. All new students (in any grade) are welcome to attend.

The schedule for the day is as follows:

  • 2:30-3:00PM – Registration (Brooks Field Entrance, if rain, Field House Entrance)
  • 3:00PM – 4:30PM-Welcome by Mrs. Cahill, introduction of the Student Leaders and MHS staff, group activities, tours of Milton High School grounds
  • 4:30PM – Snacks in the Courtyard/Cafeteria, Activities Fair in Cafeteria
  • 5:00PM – Orientation concludes & Chromebook pickup. Chromebook pickup will be in the students' advisory classrooms. Student leaders will direct students to these classrooms.

If you are a 10th-12th grade MHS student formerly in the full remote model, we would also love to see you on August 30th. Our goal for you on this day is to show you around Milton High School and answer any questions you may have about Milton High School that will help you to feel comfortable returning to the building next week. We ask that you show up by 3pm to Brooks Field for a quick welcome message and to be grouped with Student Leaders who will show you around. If you were a fully remote student at MHS last year and plan on coming, please complete this registration form. You will check in at Brooks Field but you will be having a tour by student leaders and may not need to be here for the entire orientation. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns prior to the orientation.

Student Schedules

All student schedules will be available on the first day of school. All students will report to their Advisory/Homeroom for 7:50am on Wednesday, September 1st and Thursday, September 2nd. Prior to the start of school, students and families will receive an email confirming their Advisory/Homeroom assignments and an overview of what the first 2 days of school will look like.

The Milton High School bell schedule can be found here. We will be continuing with a 7 day rotating schedule which will have an advisory period built in every day. We are also adding a 4th lunch to our schedule to help with overcrowding in the cafeteria during lunches. We will review this schedule with our students over the first 2 days of school.

Milton High School 2021-2022 Student and Family Handbook

We will be reviewing our MHS Student and Family Handbook with students at our grade level assemblies over the first two days of school. All families are expected to read the handbook and will be required to digitally sign a verification form acknowledging reading and understanding the rules and policies for Milton High School. Please watch for emails within the first few days of school that will contain information for verification forms, updating contact information and other items to ensure a great year!
