VyStar Credit Union Student Manager Interns

Over 200 Yulee High School students participated in a Reality Fair hosted by our VyStar Credit Union support branch and our YHS VyStar Student Manager Interns. Reality Fairs are a great way for students to get a "taste" of managing personal finances and experience some of the financial challenges they will face when they start living independently. Everyone is given a different career and starting salary, with a life scenario. They then complete a budget sheet, living within their monthly salary while paying for basics such as housing, utilities, transportation, clothing, and food. Additional expenditures such as entertainment and travel are factored in, as well. Students engaged with each other as they came up with some creative ways to help each other stay within their budgets!

Some of the 8th grade Yulee Middle School, Jr. Beta members volunteered their Saturday to make a difference in the community. They worked together with Springhill Baptist Church to build a ramp for a family in need in Nassauville. Trailblazer Trading Post

Yee-Haw! The Trailblazer Trading Post at Wildlight Elementary School is up and running! Grant funded by the Nassau Education Foundation and operated by the students in our self-contained classes, the Trading Post is where all students get to spend their Blaze Bucks each week. The students stock the store daily and track purchasing data to determine which items are most popular and what needs to be reordered.

Sensory Friendly Santa

Hilliard Elementary Pre-K students had a very special visitor this week! A sensory-friendly Santa and Mrs. Clause made a stop by HES to visit with our pre-K kiddos. Each student had a chance to share their Christmas wishes and chat with Santa and Mrs. Clause. A huge thank you to Mandy Conner with Northeast Florida Advocates for Autism & Related Disabilities Inc for helping set up and coordinating Santa’s visit!
