Ms. Lindsay's KDG Class Recap
April 19th, 2015
Our Lesson
Yom Ha'atzmaut
Yesterday, we celebrated Yom Ha'atzmaut (Israel's Independence Day - celebrated this year begining the evening of April 22nd). We wished Israel a happy birthday by decorating a birthday card), reading Sammy Spider's First Trip to Israel and It's Israel's Birthday, and making Israeli flags. We learned about the various areas in Israel, including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Eilat, and the Dead Sea, and we even learned that one special Hebrew word has three meanings..."Shalom" means hello, goodbye, and peace!
Our Hebrew letter of the day was Shin, which was perfect, because Shalom starts with Shin, as do Shofar, Shabbat and many other words. We only have one more Hebrew letter to learn!
