Corbett's Reading Coach 3 P Report
May 9 - 13th
Supporting TSE
PROGRESS - What I have worked on
- I worked with teachers to take inventory of what Benchmark copies we needed for next year.
- I turned in our school inventory request to Michelle Grant.
- I offered to assist the 2nd and 3rd grade teachers with meeting the benchmark deadlines by offering to come into their classroom and work with small groups so they could individually benchmark.
- I completed the grading of the Inquiry projects and shared the grades with Ms. Massey.
- After receiving information about Reading Coaches assisting with BOB next year, I ordered a copy of each book for my personal use so that I can read each one.
- I had to order the remaining books for our Summer Reading Program. I found a 6 book set that had a copy of one of the BOB books so I ordered these sets so we would have some BOB books in 4th grade hands:)
- I visited with a retiring teacher who is a master Reading teacher and is giving her collection away. I acquired many texts sets, reading phones, charts etc. to share with our new third grade teacher to build her resources.
- We met with our CRO team that volunteers at our school. Their desire is become more involved in helping with our struggling readers. After many ideas being shared. I am going to begin planning for a new reading program for next year.
PLAN - What I plan to do next
- This week is the deadline for DRA2 and I will have to assist one of the kindergarten teachers to get the information onto the online management system.
- 1st grade and our resource teachers need to finish their benchmark assessments this week so I have offered to come into their room to assist them with small group instruction to free them up to benchmark.
- I have begun working on a Reading Volunteer Program for next year.
- I also have a plan for trying to recruit some BOB participants and get them interested in reading the books over the summer.
- I will meet with my librarian, Tracy Whaley, and see how I can best support her with BOB and debrief with her about her John Collins meeting.
- I will finally get to meet with my other Reading Coaches and catch up. I will be presenting my Inquiry Project this week.
PROBLEMS- Concerns to share - PRAISE - Things to Celebrate
Praise - my 2nd and 3rd grade teachers really stepped up and met the deadline for Michelle. My 3rd grade teacher has really worked hard learning and taking on 45 students since we departmentalize. I am very proud of her:)
