Summer Camps and Resources Expo
SAGE of Plano ISD Council of PTAs is proud to announce that our annual Summer Expo, showcasing summer camps and resources for special needs and gifted families, will be held Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 10:00am to 2:00pm. We are hosting the event at Plano Senior High School in the Cafeteria. SAGE Summer Expo gathers the best summer and specialty, indoor and outdoor camps/seminars/services for Special Needs, Gifted, and General Education children and families. The Expo is one of the largest summer camp and resource fairs of its kind in the north Dallas area.
We would like every student and their family to be aware of this event so that all students have access to camps that suit their particular needs. This information has been shared with the PTA at every school, so you should see the flyer in a YO packet or via E-News soon. I want to ensure that all Principals have this information in addition to the PTA.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Paula Bramble at SAGEexpo@planopta.org or 469-474-3686. See the flyers below for more information. Click on the flyers to see an enlarged version.

NOTE FROM THE NURSE
Flu Season is Upon Us!!!!!
Flu season is typically from October - March. Preparation is the key. Management is a team effort between parents, students, health care professionals, Plano ISD and Collin County Health Department. Each plays a vital role in managing the flu season responsibly.
Parents help by:
- Having their families vaccinated against the flu.
- Encouraging proper hand washing, sneeze and cough techniques such as "Sneeze/Cough in your sleeve".
- Consulting their health care providers when flu-like illness symptoms begin. Flu like symptoms include: fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, fatigue and nasal congestion.
- Keeping their children home when ill. Students should be without vomiting, diarrhea, and fever-free without fever reducing medication for 24 hours before returning to school.
Students help by:
- Washing their hands for twenty seconds with soap and water before and after eating, after sneezing or coughing into their hands, after using the restroom, after playing outdoors, and any other time their hands are dirty.
- Using Kleenex when possible or sneezing and coughing into their sleeves.
- Not sharing food and drink.
- Encouraging others to do the same.

ATTENDANCE PROCEDURE FOR 2016-2017 SCHOOL YEAR
Parent notes: A student has up to (3) three days after an absence to turn in a parent/doctor note in order to receive an excused absence. The not should include the students name, ID number, reason and dates of the absence. A parent call does not excuse the absence.
Leaving school ill: If a student becomes ill while at school, he/she should go to the nurse's office. The nurse will contact the parents. The student and parent must then sign out at the attendance office before leaving. A student should not call/text you from their cell phone to tell you they are sick and to pick them up. Cell phone use is not allowed during class time. We have a phone available for students in the front office.
Doctor/Dental appointments: If your student must leave school early, PLEASE send a note with him/her to that he/she can be released from class. The student can sign out and wait for you in the front office. A doctor's note is required when the student returns to school. The state requires us to have a doctor's note when a student is gone for an appointment.
Other absences: Non-School activities must be pre-approved by the principal in order for the student to make up missed work. The Student Absence Request Form is available in the front office and on the Clark website in the FORMS section. The form needs to be filled out and turned in to the attendance office at least a week before the absence.
REMEMBER - NOTES CAN PREVENT UNEXCUSED ABSENCES!
