Busy December Days

We have a lot of great activities happening this week at CMS. We are definitely in full swing before the winter break. Tonight and tomorrow are the CMS production of The Phantom Tollbooth, this is an excellent story of imagination and fun that all ages should enjoy. On Tuesday, December 11th our 7th students will take the annual trip to see A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens at the North Shore Music theater. They have been studying this classic tale over the past month, be sure to ask them which ghost has the most important lesson for Ebeneezer Scrooge! Thursday is our first winter concert where we will celebrate the accomplishments of our 7th grade band and chorus. They have been preparing for this performance for many weeks and I can tell you the sound is amazing! We finish out the week with our CMS Game Night. For $5 you can drop your children off for a night of fun and games (and perhaps have a couple hours of fun yourself!). There are details about all of these events below.

And don;t forget we are still collecting toys for the Franciscan Hospital. Some of our student council members will be taking the collected items to the hospital on December 18th. Here are the items being requested:

Two New Clubs at CMS

We have two new clubs starting at CMS this winter. What is exciting is that both of these clubs were started by students. The students involved did a great job getting permission, outlining a plan, and following through to add more opportunities for students at CMS!

The LGBTQ+ Club
: Thursdays 2:05-3:00pm. Here at the Coakley Middle School, our LGBTQ+ Club brings together LGBTQ+ youth and straight allies to fight homophobia at the school and in the community through the pursuit of knowledge. Through our activities, we aim to reduce any feelings of isolation and depression that students may experience, whatever their sexual or gender identity may be. We welcome all students to participate in our after-school events, and to come talk about any issues concerning bullying or harassment due to prejudice and discrimination.

CMS Dance Team: Mon and Wed 2:10-3:10 in the cafe. Students can get together and share there love of dance! We have a parent volunteer and a staff advisory helping with skills acquisition and choreography. All are welcome. You can sign up outside of the guidance office.

As a reminder Intermural winter sports are starting soon. See Mr. Crawford with any questions.
