Keeping you Informed
Bobcats,
Good morning. I hope you have had a great week. It is hard to believe that we have less than a month of school left. As we start to wind down the year it brings many additional challenges in our current situation. We will be tentatively collecting textbooks starting on June 1st. We are looking at a walkthrough book collection, instrument collection, uniform collection, and item retrieval on that day. We will not be collecting Chromebooks. Chromebook collection for our 8th-grade students will be during registration in August unless they are not going to a district school then we will be tracking those down. This gives students access until the end of the school year and also if they need them over the summer. Department leads are working on the master schedule currently as we have the numbers in for next year. By June 1st your assignment will be emailed to you for your notification per contract.
Campus Access- From 2-4 pm each day the gate by the main office near Candy's room, the padlock will be unlocked, and the lock on the entrance to the North quad will be unlocked. The gates will be closed and need to stay closed, but your room key will get you in the main gate by the office. Remember that social distancing needs to happen and not to be having any meetings on-site only via zoom. If Maria is out, I will have her text me that day, and I will send an email to let everyone know.
8th Grade Yard Signs- As a reminder, we will be distributing yard signs to our 8th graders with their names on each sign to congratulate them for their upcoming promotion. Our PTSA and the REACH foundation both donated money to cover the costs of the signs. If you would like to help you can still fill out this form. https://forms.gle/jcdDuwfRGBrBLx577
Memorial Day- Next Monday is Memorial Day and a day off from school for everyone. Students will check for new assignments on Tuesday, May 26th.
Promotion- We will be creating a virtual promotion video which will include my comments, student speeches, and a slide show of student photos and names. We will also be doing a drive through promotion. This will be set up for the last week of school and I am working on details as the high schools will be doing theirs as well. The middle school drive-through will not have anyone getting out of the car and promotion certificates will be given to each 8th grader. We are working on ways to make this memorable for our students. If you have any ideas please feel free to share them.
Weekly Certificate of Recognition- Please fill out this form if you have a student that is doing a great job with remote learning, and you would like to recognize them. You can nominate as many students as you wish each week. We had over 50 students get recognized last week! Thank you for taking the time to let students know they are doing a great job.
PLC- Horizontal Meetings grade level leads will reach out to set up the meetings.
YLMS Staff Store- Don't forget Bobcats; we have a new online store where you can buy YLMS gear. I have ordered a sweatshirt and polo and the quality of both is very nice. What is nice is you order what you want when you want and then it is shipped to you. No waiting for everyone to buy items. Yorba Linda Middle Gear Store
