CJSF Field trip to Butte Humane Society!

Our CJSF students enjoyed a field trip to Butte Humane Society where they learned the inner workings of one of the oldest non-profit agencies in all of Butte County. We visited animals who will hopefully soon find a forever home, and we learned the importance of helping animals in our community by spaying and neutering. In support of the Butte Humane Society please check out 2022 Woofstock June 4th 11:00-5:00 @ 13391 Garner Lane in Chico.

If your student does not have proof of this vaccine by August 15th they will not be able start school until they get it. Classroom Spotlight

This week's classroom spotlight is on Ms. Hodges' Math Lab class. This Math intervention class provides students with a variety of math skills needed for their future. In this lesson highlight, Ms. Hodges had students practice real world math through future goal setting. Students had an opportunity to choose a career for their future, research college time envestment and cost for that career, look at yearly salary and make a monthly budget, pick a future place to live and project cost of living, and even figure out their taxes for the year. These real world skills will prepare our Gators for a great future ahead. Gators, we are so proud of all you are learning!

AVID WICOR Showcase

Advancement Via Individual Determination, or AVID, is a proven learning support structure, known as WICOR , that incorporates teaching/learning methodologies in the critical areas of Writing to Learn, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading to Learn. WICOR provides a learning model that educators can use to guide students in comprehending concepts and articulating ideas at increasingly complex levels.

Marsh’s teachers have been trained in the WICOR principles and incorporate their proven strategies into their lessons. This week's WICOR spotlight is Mrs. Lopez's AVID classroom. Each week students master the skills of collaboration through the tutorial component in the AVID curriculum. In these sessions students work together on assignments, using inquiry and questioning to help solve problems, and working collaboratively to complete the assignment. Students also use their time to set goals for themselves. Way to go Mrs. Lopez, you are a WICOR Rock Star!!
