Stoller Weekly
December 4, 2020
Message From The Principal
Good afternoon Stoller families,
As Covid cases continue to rise in our area Stoller staff continues to be vigilant following District protocols and safety guidelines to keep our community safe. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we follow these policies.
You received information from the District regarding Superintendent Grotting’s recommendation to the board regarding the Common Middle School Experience (CME). As we prepare to open a new middle school, adjust middle school boundaries, and take into account enrollment numbers, we will see staffing implications next year. The goal of CME is to ensure that middle school students have the same opportunities regardless of which school they attend. I believe this is a great reset for our schools. If you have any questions about this please reach out.
Have a wonderful weekend and please stay safe.

Important News
Update on Tag Testing
Due to CDL, TAG testing for the district has been delayed. We do not know when TAG testing will take place. Some testing might potentially occur in the Spring. We will pass on information once we know more.
Every year all students are considered for identification as Talented and Gifted in the Beaverton School District. Oregon law and District policy define gifted students as those who score at or above the 97th percentile on a standardized, nationally normed test of mental ability and/or academic achievement. Behavioral, learning, and/or performance information is also considered before a student is identified for TAG services. These services are provided by your child's classroom teacher(s). An informative presentation can be found HERE.
If you think your child might qualify by exhibiting qualities that typically are used to describe giftedness, you may wish to complete a Parent Information/Identification Form. Completing this form gives our school TAG committee more information about your child, but it is not required. All qualified students will be considered regardless of form completion. Completing this form does not guarantee that you child will be tested.
The Parent Information/Identification Form must be completed and returned to the appropriate TAG facilitator. Please submit these by Friday, January 22nd, 2021.

Immunization Exclusion Day
Immunization Exclusion Day will be Wednesday, February 17th, 2021.
Immunization parent notification letters were mailed the week of November 16th. The front page of the letter will tell you the immunizations that our records indicate your child is missing. The back page shows your child's immunization status. Your child’s updated immunization status or exemptions must be completed and returned to the school by Tuesday, February 16th, 2021.
All students with incomplete vaccine records will be excluded from school starting Wednesday, February 17th, 2021. Students will not be excluded if we are still in CDL; however, students will need to be up-to-date in order to return to the building, should we transition to the Hybrid model.
If your child's last Diphtheria/Tetanus/Pertussis (DTP, Td, Tdap) dose was prior to age 7, they become due for a booster at age 12. You will receive a letter in the mail if your child’s immunization records are incomplete. If you do not receive a letter, your child’s immunizations are up-to-date, and no further action is required on your part. Parents can view immunization records in their ParentVue accounts at any time.
You need to complete one of the following actions prior to February 17th if you received a letter in the mail regarding immunizations.
- If your child has received the vaccines, submit the documentation with the dates to michelle_hall@beaverton.k12.or.us.
- If you want a non-medical exemption for your child, you will need to complete two actions:
1) Complete the required education regarding immunizations. The module can be found at www.healthoregon.org/vaccineexemption.
2) Complete the Non-medical Exemption box on page two of the Certificate of Immunization Status Form.
Submit both the completed non-medical exemption education certificate and the updated Certificate of Immunization Status Form to michelle_hall@beaverton.k12.or.us.
- If your child needs a medical exemption, you must provide documentation to michelle_hall@beaverton.k12.or.us. The information needed from the doctor is stated on page 2 of the Certificate of Immunization Status Form.

Student Device Damage & Protection Plan Payment Options
If you opted into the program there are 2 options to pay the $20 fee.
Students need to pay the assigned fee prior to any damage or loss claims to be eligible for the Protection Program coverage and no later than 30 days after they begin school.
This $20 fee may be paid via the Online Payment System or by submitting a check and a completed form to the office. Checks must be made payable to Stoller Middle School (NO CASH).
This fee is waived for families who qualify for the free or reduced meal benefits program and have completed the “Permission to Share” form.
If you do not need the coverage you can "opt out" of the program through your ParentVue account or by completing this form (Spanish Version) and returning to the main office.
Attendance during Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL)
To report all day absences or absences during the day due to appointments, contact Attendance for excused absences.
The Attendance line: (503)356-2681 or email: sms-attendance-shared@beaverton.k12.or.us
This email can also be accessed on Stoller's website.
If your student is going to be absent and not going to access curriculum anytime during that day, then you will need to report the absence with attendance for that to be an excused absence.
If your student is absent from a class and they access the curriculum, turn in an assignment, or engage in an activity on canvas anytime during the day, they Engaged Online (EOL) and this is not an absence, no need to call or email attendance. This is not considered an absence and the teacher will be able to make corrections in the students' attendance if they are marked absent. You may get an automated call from Stoller at 5pm, you may ignore it.
If your student was marked absent from a class that they did attend, please email the teacher to get it corrected. Do not call the attendance line, the teacher must confirm any changes to be made.

Stoller Volunteers
Welcome Stoller Volunteers!
Volunteering in the 2020-21 school year will be unlike previous years. Although we are unsure what remote volunteer needs will be, we invite you to create a volunteer profile or update your existing profile. This will ensure you are able to help Stoller staff and students through volunteer work as opportunities arise. A volunteer profile is required for all volunteering within BSD schools. Please follow the steps below to update or create your volunteer profile. Additional information is available at www.stollerpto.com/volunteer.
Existing BSD Volunteers (new to Stoller)
Please send an email to update_volunteer_locations@beaverton.k12.or.us and request to add Stoller Middle School to the organizations listed in your mVP account. Provide your full first and last name as it appears in your profile. If you will no longer be volunteering at an elementary school, you may also request to remove that school from your profile.
New BSD Volunteers
If you are a new volunteer to the Beaverton School District, you must create a volunteer account. This process includes a background check.
- Parent/Guardian: Complete the Parent/Guardian Volunteer Application
- Community Volunteer: Complete the Community Volunteer Application (This applies to Grandparents, Nannies, Neighbors, etc)
- Youth Volunteers: Complete the Youth Volunteer Application
Within the application, please include all of the BSD schools where you are a volunteer. You will have one profile for all your BSD volunteering.
- This step also initiates a background check. It will come up for renewal every 2 years.
- Once your background check is complete, you will receive an email from Stoller PTO stating your background check approval status, and your volunteer profile at myimpactpage.com will be active.
Thank you for giving your time and talents to Stoller this school year!
If you have any issues with your device or logging in, you will need to contact the Student Help Desk.
