Mrs. Schwartz's Class News
Week Two
This is what we learned this week...
- Language Arts: This week, students answered our Question of the Week: How do children get to school? After reading The Little School Bus and Off to School students discussed and created webs describing different ways that children get to school. Our Amazing Words this week were first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth. Using these words, we practiced writing using our new sight words. (See Ordinal Counting photos below!)
- Sight Words: I, am
- Letters of the week: Aa, Bb Throughout the week, students learned about and discussed the uppercase and lowercase forms of the letters. Students also practiced their letter sound using a number of songs and fun games!
- Math: Students continued working on their number recognition up to the number 5. We also began to use the number words as well as the cardinal numbers! They have really enjoyed our roll, count, write game in centers! Ask them about it!
- Social Studies: This week, each student had the opportunity to share their Me-Mobile while practicing their public speaking and listening skills with a fantastic Q&A after each. Students also discussed their families and what makes them different or the same! While discussing, students made a family portrait and labeled each person shown.
- P.R.I.D.E. Time: We have been working hard on learning our school pledge! It is to Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be your Best!! We also celebrated Laila's fifth birthday!
