John 14:12-14 (Below)
Praying like disciples – Rev. Steve Patterson
What does this passage mean? We have all asked for stuff and not gotten it. What’s that about?
1st Idea – We are God’s advisory board and when we don’t pray that board isn’t meeting.
2nd Idea – You want your prayers always to be answered? Only pray for God’s will.
We are supposed to ask “in Jesus name”
Taking our prayers above our purpose and beyond our convenience is praying Gods will, is praying like the disciples, is praying in Jesus Name.
Why do we do it in Jesus name instead of our own – Our name doesn’t have the same authority
Can’t know what Jesus would want unless we know Jesus.
12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
