Encouragements:
Only 12 school days left! WOW! While that sounds exciting, it's also nerve wracking with all the to-dos that come with the END OF YEAR time! We can do this! Keep loving on your kiddos - some of them are not excited about the end of school.
Condolences:
Holly's aunt passed away Saturday night. Let her know you are thinking of her.
Have we missed something? Let us know!
News and Notes
End of the Year Checklist/Student Information Sheets
All ready! You should have what you need! If you don't, come see me!
Professional Growth Plans/Summative
Final observations, followed by one-on-one conversations about your PGP/Summative will happen between now and the beginning-middle of May. When you complete your part of the PGP you will need to include three artifacts. These can be photos, screenshots, or scanned documents that show completion of your goals. Those artifacts can be uploaded anytime, as well as your reflection on the two goals.
Class Lists for 19-20
I will be asking for feedback on class lists for next year in the next few weeks. First we will look at separations - which students should not be together next year. Also, think about students who would work well together. Draft lists will be created and shared with current grade level teachers to get input - teacher names will not be assigned at this point.
If a parent has reached out to you about requests or separations, please have them contact me directly.
SSTs
Final meeting needed for your SSTs? Let's get it on the calendar ASAP!
Orders for 2019-2020
School Specialty has an online feature to create your requisition in a cart. Using this system will allow you to see the discount the district gets from School Specialty. If you have questions about using the School Specialty online ordering, please see Valerie. THIS IS ONLY FOR SCHOOL SPECIALTY ORDERS.
School Specialty Orders
This process will allow you to create and print a School Specialty requisition much faster and much more accurately than the traditional paper process because your discounted price will automatically be shown.

Classroom Connection
- Classroom Connection is a local business which will provide free delivery to the school (No shipping cost). They will offer a 15% discount. (Put the regular prices in the requisition, but create a line on the requisition that says Classroom Connection 15% discount- Carey will figure that.)
- Use the attached requisition for Classroom Connection orders.
- ALL PRODUCTS from the following companies can be listed on your Classroom Connection purchase order even if not listed in the store catalog.
- Carson Dellosa
- Creative Teaching Press
- Educational Insights
- Eureka
- Evan-Moor Publishing (excludes student pack workbooks)
- Learning Resources
- McDonald Publishing
- Melissa & Doug Toys & Puzzles

FOR ALL OTHER CATALOG ORDERS
- Use the attached requisition. Do not change any of the dates on the attached requisitions. (Dates should reflect July 1, 2019)
- Use a separate requisition for each company you order from.
- Carey will continue to order staples, tape, paperclips, etc.
- Generally speaking each classroom teacher may order about $300.
- If there is a code for a discount, please be sure to write the code and the amount of the discount on the purchase order.
- If there is shipping cost, you need to count that as a part of your $300 ish and write the shipping cost on the requisition as a separate line item.
- Use a separate requisition for each company you order from.
- Catalogs are in the office. Be sure to use 2019-2020 catalogs. Don't keep them too long. We'll put out an APB if they are gone too long!
- You can order throughout the year. Think about what you need to get your year started.
Open Enrollment Information
Open Enrollment is the period where you can make changes to your benefits coverage for the upcoming plan year. Changes can include electing, changing or dropping a benefit plan, enrolling or dropping an eligible dependent, electing the Flexible Spending Account (FSA), or electing or dropping a Voluntary benefit plan such as Voluntary Life Insurance or Voluntary Short Term Disability.
If you wish to renew or start an FSA for the upcoming plan year, you are required to log in to complete your open enrollment elections. If you are satisfied with your current elections and do not take action, your current elections will carry over to the upcoming year – except for FSA renewals. Changes made during the open enrollment period will become effective July 1, 2019. Please review the Open Enrollment documents on our website which outline important plan information: www.jcschools.us/Page/12426
What’s New for 2019?
- There will be dental, vision and short-term disability plan rate changes for 2019-2020. To view your rates, log in to Bswift.
- Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Renewals – If you currently elect the FSA and wish to continue it, you must log in and make an election amount. The government requires participants to make new FSA elections each year. If you do not log in and make an election for the FSA, then you will not be enrolled for the upcoming plan year.
Open Enrollment Process
JCPS Open Enrollment period starts Friday, May 3, 2019 through end-of-day Monday, May 13, 2019. Beginning Friday, May 3, 2019, you can enroll online through the Jefferson City Public School District’s benefits system, Bswift, to make your 2019-2020 benefit elections:
- Bswift site: jcschools.bswift.com
- Username = firstname.lastname
- Password = If you've forgotten your password, there is a Forgot-Password link on the page.
Easy Open Enrollment! Employees are not required to take any action for their current elections (except for FSA) to carry over to the upcoming year, however we ask that you log in to the Bswift benefits system to review your current elections and confirm there are no changes that you would like to make. If no action is taken, then your current elections (except for FSA) will simply carry over to the next plan year.
Employees may log in to the open enrollment website as many times as they wish, and make changes at any time through the May 13 deadline. Instructions on how to enroll can be found on the JCPS Bswift enrollment website (www.jcschools.bswift.com) under Library.
