Carr's Kiddos

This Week in First Grade

Week of August 26-30, 2013

What a great week in First Grade! We spent a lot of time this week settling in. We are getting to know each other, learning routines, meeting other teachers and students, and figuring out what it means to be in school all day. For some friends, it's a more difficult adjustment than others. You probably had some tired kiddos on your hands at the end of the day. Trust me, it will get easier once they get the hang of it.

Hopefully your first grader has been sharing some of their learning with you. (Although if they are anything like my Kindergartner, your questions of "What did you do in school today?" will be met with "I don't remember.") Remember that we have many ways of sharing our learning with our families. Check our website on a regular basis, follow us on Twitter, and keep an eye out for updates in your email inbox and your child's red home/school folder. And coming up on September 9th is our Curriculum Night, during which you will get to hear more about what your child will be learning this year, some procedures of the school and classroom, and learning expectations.

I am using a variety of methods to get information out to you, so please let me know if I've missed anything or if there is anything you would like to know more about but can't find the answers to.
