At-Home Expectations To-Do List and Reminders
Ms. McIntyre created this document for students to use as a guide when they are working from home. Please review this information with your student to help them stay organized during at-home days.
Please Reach Out to Us if You Need Assistance
If you notice that your child is having a difficult time, please reach out to us. We are aware of the potential difficulties that remote and hybrid learning have created, but we are also seeing our students less than we ever have before. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated so that we can help you and your student succeed in this difficult and unusual year.
Connecting with Guidance
The guidance department has come out with a comprehensive schedule to help students moderate and ensure that all their work is complete during their at-home days. Here are some resources that will help you and your student navigate the at-home day schedule:
If you need help with organization or would like to meet with Mrs. Spinelli, please let us know and we would be happy to set up a meeting.
1. Read an Independent Reading Book
We are instructing students to have a leisure reading book with them at school for when they finish their work and have their screen breaks. Similarly, students can read these books for a certain amount if time if they finish a subject's work early.
2. Look at Mr. Williams's "If You Finish Early" section
This section has English-related games, typing practice exercises, and writing prompts for students looking for enrichment activities. These options are a great way to continue learning whether the student has finished work early in class or at home.
3. Work on Make-Up Work or Extra Credit
If students have work to complete, whether the work is overdue, soon to be due, or in need of revisions, this extra time is perfect for meeting class requirements. Students could complete homework or extra credit, practice skills, and/or study for upcoming assessments.
4. Take On Some Teacher Challenges
Some teachers may provide options for students to go above and beyond with their work. Some challenges could include:
- Completing more than one option if the assignment has multiple option choices
- Taking on an added challenge or degree of difficulty while completing the assignment.
- Undertaking additional research or reading/viewing materials provided by the teacher.
5. Start an Independent Challenge or Study
Sometimes the best learning comes in the areas where you are the most motivated! Take on a hobby, activity, or independent study and learn something that you've always wanted to learn, whether it be a skill, ability, or academic subject!
If you need help finding an independent challenge or organizing your studies, let your Red Lions teachers know!

We have received a lot of questions from parents and guardians over the last few weeks, and we thought it would be wise to create a FAQ document to help parents obtain the important information they need.
We will continue to update this document as necessary for the remainder of the year.

Office Hours when Working from Home
When students are working from home, teachers may not be available to answer questions because they are teaching, which is why we built into the schedule an “Office Hour” from 11:45 - 12:15 for students who are at home to check in with their teachers if they need help or have questions.
- Teachers will be available via Zoom. Please have your child reach out to us to schedule a time during this block.
- Teachers will be checking and responding to Google Classroom comments and emails to ensure students understand assignments from home.
Screen Breaks at School
Students at school will be required to shut their Chromebook and take a screen break during the 11:45 to 12:15 time period. We are encouraging pleasure reading books during this time; however, we have also shared that students may want to bring in a puzzle or sudoku book, a favorite school-appropriate magazine or book, or even a drawing pad. We are just spending enough time in front of our screens these days, and we feel a brain break is helpful to break up their day.
Working During the In-School Screen Break
If a student has make-up work that they need to complete on a computer, then they will need to get permission from one of their teachers to do so. The teacher will provide the student with a note or a post-it that can be stuck on the back of the computer to show the teacher that the student has permission to work on their laptops.
