AVA Family Update
December 8, 2022
Good morning AVA Families,
Good morning.
We are in school Monday through Thursday next week, and the schedule is below. Other than that, I only have reminders about new classes in Tri 2 and a last request about updating your mobile numbers. If you want easy access to weather cancellation news, an updated mobile number is your best bet.
Thank you for your time.

Second Notice: English Classes
For example, students in English II will see an MCAS Prep class appear in Edgenuity. Again, this isn't something that is added on, it is part of the design of the class that this Edgenuity course is added in Trimester 2 and 3.
Each course is a bit different, and both students and families will be update with more specific information next week.
Last Notice: Update Phone Numbers - We Need Your Mobile Number!
Guidance Update
All grades - FREE COVID tests
The federal government is currently offering 4 free COVID tests per household address. Click HERE for more information and to complete the order form. We hope all families stay healthy this rough season.
Grade 9 and 10 - MCAS Practice
Current grade 9 and 10 students will take the standard administration of the MCAS exams in the coming months: 9th grade will take Science in June, and 10th grade will take English and Math in mid-spring. Winter break is the perfect time to practice and study! Here are some links to some free practice exams, online and paper:
Seniors
FAFSA - For AVA seniors who are going the college route, now is the time to begin looking at the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application. Different college/universities have different priority deadlines for completing the FAFSA (financial aid) application but are generally between February 1st and March 1st. Click HERE for some helpful tips, links, and directions on how to complete the FAFSA. Of course, you may also email Ms Nellie anytime for support!
Scholarships - Don't lose out on free money for college! Once again, it is never too early to start applying for scholarships, so if interested, please check the AHS Guidance site or click HERE for the dept. scholarship list. As a general scholarship search tool, I recommend Scholar's App HERE, as it is free of egregious amounts of ads.
Last, please be on the look out for the weekly AHS Guidance Dept. email update. More details forthcoming...
As always, please email me at nng@attleboroschools.com with any comments, suggestions, and concerns, or to make a virtual meeting appointment. Have a dry, restful weekend. The winter break is almost here!
