A Note from Ms. Buschmann

I started working on my doctorate degree this summer at the University of Missouri. While it was engaging and I enjoyed the challenge of the course work, I am ready to get back to Hermann Middle School and getting ready for our school year. It is not too far away!

We debuted our new mission statement last year during Missouri Read-In Day: Bearcats, Be Your Best! Classroom, Character, Community. I look forward to ensuring each student at HMS has the opportunity to do that.

Our theme for this year is "One Team, One Goal" and while you will see sports decorations to support the theme, it is really not about any sports team, but the HMS team and embracing the African proverb, "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." We want our kids to go far in their learning, in their community involvement and in their capacity to care for one another.

2019-20 Supply List

The document attached below is our 19-20 School Supply list. Please refer to this list and the appropriate grade level when purchasing your supplies for the upcoming year.

Online Registration and Registration Day

Almost 70% of HMS students are already registered for the 2019-20 school year- thank you. If you have not yet completed Online Registration for your child, please do so as soon as possible.


To start, log in to Infinite Campus. (If you need login information, contact our technology department, 573.486.3121 x1314.)


  • Infinite Campus looks a little different after a recent update. Once you click on the link, you will choose "campus parent" and then enter your username and password.
  • Once you get into the parent portal, choose "more" and then toward the bottom of the list you will find "online registration."
  • It will be helpful to have current contact information for any of your child's emergency contacts as well as current medical diagnoses and medications. We will have a laptop available in the office if you need internet access or would prefer a device to your phone.


You must complete online registration for your student to be scheduled for classes! We will have a registration day on August 6, 2019, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 4th, 5th, and 6th-grade students will be able to pick up letters from their homeroom teacher on that day, and 7th and 8th-grade students will be allowed to choose their locker if their registration has been completed and approved by that date.


At the registration day, you will also be able to take care of some of the things that have traditionally been done at Open House, including Chromebook agreements and payment of fees. The Chromebook agreement and insurance fee are required for students in grade 5-12. The manual that describes all expectations regarding Chromebooks and their use can be found by clicking on this link.


Required fees for each middle school student include the Chromebook insurance fee ($10) and a fee for a student planner ($5). There are a variety of purchases you may want to take care of all at one time, however. Please see the list below. You may pay these on Infinite Campus with Online Pay, or with cash or check at school on Registration Day or Open House.


Planner: $5 per student

Chromebook Insurance: $10 per student

Yearbook: $20 per book

Athletic Fee (7th and 8th-grade school sports only): $25 per student

Food Service: You choose the amount

Breakfast: Full Price $2.05; Reduced Price $0.30

Lunch: Full Price $2.65; Reduced Price $0.40

6th Grade Band Families

If your child will be joining the band for the first time in 2019, we are asking that you bring him or her to school to try out mouthpieces and decide what instrument he or she would like to play. Mr. Sachs will be available on August 6 from 4:30- 6:00 to take care of this. We will see you then!

Tuesday, Aug. 6th, 8am-4pm

Hermann Middle School

Families with completed Online Registration forms will be able to pick up 4th, 5th and 6th-grade welcome letters from homeroom teachers and choose 7th and 8th-grade lockers. This will also be an opportunity to complete registrations and/or get help with registration forms if necessary.


If you are unavailable during this time, please contact the middle school office (486-3121) or Ms. Buschmann (nbuschmann@hermann.k12.mo.us) to set up a time to stop by.

Preserve Your Summer Memories

Do you have pictures of your summer adventures? Create fun mementos or photo books with Shutterfly and help HMS at the same time. You can use an existing account or a create a new one, plus any coupon codes will still work.
