Weekly Reminders 1.10
Our College Vision...
At Mother Teresa Catholic College, we aim to...
CHALLENGE our students and all in our college community to
CONNECT with learning about ourselves, one another and the wider world, in order to
CONTRIBUTE with confidence, courage and creativity towards making the world a better place
Loving God,
As we begin Holy Week, we remember your triumphant entry into Jerusalem.
We sing your praises, shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David.”
You alone are the true King, a leader greater than all others.
Even so, in your great mercy you chose to become like us,
taking on human form and living amongst us.
As we celebrate and shout “Hosanna”, may we remember what will soon follow.
Keep us faithful in both word and action and help us love you to the best of our ability.
We make this prayer this through Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
MJR FOCUS: HAPPY CHAPPY - STAYING POSITIVE IN DIFFICULT TIMES
HOLY WEEK 2020
During Holy Week, we commemorate the Passion of Christ. Palm Sunday is the first day of Holy Week and commemorates the arrival of Jesus in Jerusalem days before he was crucified. The people of Jerusalem greeted Jesus enthusiastically, waving palm branches and covering the path he was walking with them too, today we burn the palms at Mass on this day and they are used as the ashes for Ash Wednesday the following year.
The crowds that went ahead of him and that followed were shouting,
“Hosanna to the Son of David!
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
Hosanna in the highest heaven!” [Matthew 21:9]

Week 9 - Done and Dusted!
Thank you so very, very much to all our amazing MTCC children, parents and carers for embracing home - online learning with positivity and a 'can do' attitude. We greatly appreciate all your efforts.
A special 'well done' goes out to the many parents who are also endeavouring to work from home, working with a number of children across varying levels, have very young children and those with a combination of the above.
Our thanks also go to our wonderful MTCC staff who have planned, created, uploaded, connected (online and in person), checked, shared, commented, provided assistance etc. while offering the best possible opportunities for learning continuity.
Whilst we know home-online learning will have it's challenges, many of which we hope to address moving forward, we have already seen some unexpected benefits including children being more focussed during learning without some of the usual obstacles and distractions, growing student independence and responsibility for learning, and the obvious benefit of increased parental involvement.
The staff were totally blown away by the incredible generosity of so many college families who got together to have cookies, chocolates, pizzas, coffee vouchers delivered to the college during the last weeks as a sign of appreciation and solidarity. There have also been many emails of encouragement and recognition. We truly appreciate the understanding shown as we continue to endeavour to iron out unforeseen issues and provide solutions when things don't quite go to plan.
It seems we all know how blessed we are to be part of this special community of MTCC, Baldivis.
In an effort to 'pass it on' some bags of treats were delivered for the staff at Coles and Woolworths at Stockland and the local Fire Services on Eighty Road on behalf of our community as a sign of our appreciation for all they do, especially in difficult times like these.
As we head into the holiday break, please continue to be kind and generous in your thoughts, words and actions - take time to talk, laugh, connect in ways that are possible, be creative, rest, be appreciative and live life remembering the love Jesus showed for each and everyone of us as we journey with him through his final days on earth.
Abundant blessings to you and yours.
Stay safe and know we continue to keep you all in our prayers.
Term Two 2020
All families will be kept up to date with the latest information from the College and notified as soon as directives are received.
Thank you for your patience and understanding in this time of constant change.
SUSTAINABILITY NEWS
Our Bush Tucker-House Gardens have been given some extra TLC over the last few weeks. The Year 6 leaders, with a number of Green Team friends, showed excellent team work, problem solving and creativity. Garden signs designed by Mr Burros’ Year 5 class, from last year have a QR code which. helps you to find out more about your particular house.
Last weekend the school chickens started their holidays a little earlier than the rest of us. The four small chickens are now happily living at Mrs Romagnolo’s home with the three larger chickens enjoying their new surroundings at Mrs Faed’s home.
Congratulations to Mrs Commane for winning the chicken themed sustainability raffle. The money raised has been used to buy the chicken food and meal worms.
As always, we are incredibly grateful for the outstanding work of our Sustainability Co-ordinator Ms Helen Mc Clenaghan who leads all the wonderful things that continue to happen in this important aspect of 21st century learning at MTCC.
