STEM DAY 2019
STEM day 2019 is right around the corner! Coinciding with Family Day on April 5th, McEntire JNGB will be hosting a hands-on learning event. While primarily geared toward grades 5-12, all ages are more than welcome. Along with the National Guard, there will be multiple organizations with exhibits like the SC State Museum, Palmetto Health, and many more. Among other topics, they will have the opportunity to see applied examples of robotics, learn the basics of EM theory, and develop an understanding of satellite constellations. Please pass this information along to any teachers, schools, or parties that you think might be interested in engaging students and seeing how STEM plays into everyday life! TECHNOLOGY INFO!!!
Charging Your Chromebook
Please ensure that your child is bringing their fully charged Chromebook to school each day. In the event that the student’s device does not properly charge, they must bring both the charger AND their Chromebook to FoxTech the following day so that we can help identify the problem.
If a student has lost their charger, a new one can be purchased for $20 at FoxTech. Please refrain from purchasing outside chargers from other vendors, as we have seen them cause internal damage to the Chromebooks.
For all information about our District 5 Instructional Technology Initiative, please visit the iFive Initiative website.

TEACHER SPOTLIGHT:
Mrs. Marlo Wright, school counselor, should be praised for her excellent IGP presentation. My 8th grader has two older siblings and we have already been through the IGP process twice before but this was the first year that everything about the graduation plan was thoroughly explained to us. Mrs. Wright had an engaging and organized presentation and we left the meeting feeling confident about our choices. She spent time answering our questions and listening to our concerns and we appreciated her time and efforts. DFMS administration should be thankful to have such a kind and caring person in the guidance department.
Please email us and tell us why you think a teacher is going above and beyond our school. Every teacher nominated will have their morning duty or lunch duty for special area teachers taken care of for a day. The teachers truly appreciate knowing what they do matters and the break that comes with it. To nominate a teacher send an email to DFMIDDLEPTSA@gmail.com. Please add the teachers name, grade and why you are nominating them.
NOTE:
If you have any ideas or suggestions please send us an e-mail. Share your thoughts. We'd love to hear from you!
