Prestwick LEarns: A peek into PE (physical Education): Skills and Self-Reflection
Beyond the physical skills the students also learned skill of cooperation. Each trio had to determine who would play the position each time they hit the field and learned the art of negotiation. They were encouraged to talk as a team to see who wanted to play where and if they had more than one want to play they could use rock paper scissors to help decide. If the team still felt strongly they could visit the conflict corner to discuss it further and then invite a coach to help them. It was so encouraging see student successfully solve their differences and take the court and play a variety of positions.
At the end of class it was refreshing to see students self evaluate their performance. As they exited back to class they used the rubric on the wall to rate how they did in class. Coach Luna was on hand to support their rating or to ask them why they scored themselves lower. Students were very honest about their participation and following of directions. Last but not least students added suggestions for future activities in the gym by writing down ideas and adding it to the parking lot. What a great idea to give students an outlet for feedback!!
A few reminders:
1. Wear Red this Friday to celebrate Heart Health
2. Save the date for next weeks PTA Meeting (Tuesday, Feb. 11th) and afterwards Heart Health Challenge Time in the Gym lead by Coach Luna! DON'T MISS IT
After a brief meeting we will join Coach Luna in the gym to participate in the heart health challenge activities children have learned in class during January. Staff Spotlight
“I have taught for thirteen years. I love reading and writing and get very excited to see students reading, recommending books to each other, and talking and writing about what they are reading. I believe reading and writing are the basis for all learning and is so important in our lives. I also believe that every child matters every day, and it is a privilege to get to teach them.”
“My husband Joe and I have two amazing daughters, Emelia and Maddie. They are both attending college right now, but come home all the time to visit:) We also have two dogs, Nina and Carter. The cutest, sweetest dogs ever!! We all love spending time together. This past summer we took an awesome trip to Yellowstone and spent a week exploring all the beautiful wildlife, waterfalls, forests, and so much more!
I also LOVE to do home improvements. I can use all sorts of tools and supplies to put in floors, build decks, create patios and stone gardens, and redo any room in the house. I love creating new spaces.”

Dual Language Parent Meetings
We're trying to expand our reach and we think you can help by word-of-mouth. You may have a neighbor or friend who has an incoming Little Elm ISD kindergartner. We want them to know about our upcoming Dual Language parent meetings.
Dual Language is a Spanish and English two-way bilingual program that begins in kindergarten. Interested parents who have incoming kindergartners for the 2020-2021 school year should plan to attend one of two parent meetings: the first meeting is Wednesday, February 26, at Brent Elementary at 6:30 p.m.
The second meeting is Wednesday, March 25 at Oak Point Elementary at 6:30 pm! For more information about the District's Dual Language Program, visit our website at www.littleelmisd.net/duallanguage
