Our focus...
This time of year can be rather challenging. It happens every year like a circadian rhythm. We get tired, our patience runs thin, and we deal with students going through similar feelings of exhaustion. The weather is getting better and the end of the year is clearly in sight. Countdowns have begun and we have to exert addition energy to stay focused. I call it the home stretch. Long enough to seem like forever, but really just a blink of the eye. Hang in there. Take time to take care of yourself. This weekend proved to be glorious, I hope it was rejuvenating. Stay classy Churchill High.
In The Know
Graduation Cords - Staff please know hat cords for students are reviewed through Curriculum Council and approved by administration. We must follow a protocol for approving academic regalia and it needs to comply with district expectations. No club, course, or teacher, may voluntarily approve, select, or purchase academic regalia without having the request reviewed by curriculum council and approved by administration.
Professional Development - We have 3.5 hours of Professional Development on May 8th. All licensed staff are required to attend. If for some reason you cannot attend you will need to check in with me prior to taking that time. Planning Dr's appointments during the morning is not encouraged. Please be selective with your time slots and make your professional development time a priority. We will be discussing the intent and design of our school improvement plan for next year, among other topics.
May 8th - Classified Staff
- All classified staff report to work and work their regularly scheduled hours.
- Staff will be paid for the hours worked. Staff who do not work, will not be paid or permitted to use paid leave.
- Some staff will be assigned tasks periodically throughout the day. For example, nutrition services staff will be assigned to help with free lunch service and transportation staff will help transport students to after school activities with department specific professional development in-between.
- The district will provide PD throughout the day.
- Free school lunch will be served at selected school sites for our students in need. We will provide our usual student transportation services to non-4J programs that are open on this day. Athletic contests will continue as planned and we will administer all scheduled AP and IB tests.
- Classified staff who report to work that day will be paid for hours worked Staff who do not report to work that day will not be paid.
- Staff will not be permitted to “make up” time missed or use paid leave.
- If staff report to work, they should be expected to work all of the hours in their regular shift.
- If a classified staff member indicates they do not intend to work, that decision will be respected.
- The district has agreed absences on May 8 for any reason will not be subject to discipline.
