Thursday's Thoughts

Big picture

You Made It!

We are only one school day away from spring break! I hope you enjoy every second of your break. Spend time doing the things you love with the people you love.

Your Classrooms

Mr. Jim, Ethan, and Donna are going to work Monday and Tuesday in classrooms. They are going to spend time particularly on the fourth and fifth grade halls cleaning floors and sinks. They will be cleaning floors around your desks and high traffic areas. Please take time to pick up as much as you can off of the floor so that they can clean it as much as possible. Please have your students put their chairs on top of the tables before leaving and leave your classroom doors open.

Please remove all items from the refrigerator in the cafeteria and third grade workroom before leaving tomorrow.

Our playgrounds are littered with trash and coats. Please have your students help to pick up trash and make sure they bring in all coats, chairs, and playground equipment when coming in from recess.

Congratulations Isibindi for being the third nine week's house winner!

Moves for Next Year

We are working diligently to make plans for next year. Our school is growing as we now have over 660 students! As we grow and change year to year, we always want to make sure we are utilizing our people and resources in the very best way for our kids.

Our resource numbers have grown in such a way that it is not possible for Marley to serve them all and provide the time these students need. Because of this important need, Jane Addison will be moving into a full time resource position next year. She and Marley will be serving our students with IEPs.

Shelby Litz will be moving from kindergarten to first grade next year. After spending three years in K5, Shelby will be an asset to first grade and is excited about learning a new grade level.

As we nail down additional changes, I will keep you informed. :-)

"How dare we walk into our schools every day and tell our students to learn if we ourselves are not learning." -Kids Deserve It!

**Please read carefully**

It is so very important that attendance is taken every single day. It is critical that attendance is accurate. Please help us by doing the following:

1. Take attendance each morning between 8:15-8:30. If you tend to forget to take attendance, please set an alarm on your phone to remind you.

2. Double check who you mark absent. We have had several students marked absent who were not absent. When a child is marked absent, the parent receives an automated call letting them know of the absence. We are having parents call us that are receiving calls that their child was absent when in fact they were at school.

3. If a child comes in late, please keep their tardy slip should there be a question about their attendance.

Attendance is tied to our funding. Please make sure you make this a priority each day and make sure it is accurate. Thank you!
