Board Recognizes Houston's Announced Retirement
Superintendent's Report
Dr. Grace also gave time to Dr. Teresa Wilkerson, assistant superintendent, who presented information on the various ways SPS students are attending school in 2020-2021. In the first semester, approximately 23% of SPS students attended school in some type of virtual capacity. In the current semester, that percentage has changed to about 19%.
Board Reports
First Vice President Larry Walker acknowledged an SPS employee, Kelsey Grovey, who was recently inducted into the Shawnee Basketball Hall of Fame.
Board Member Bobby Canty commented on a basketball event the district hosted and wanted to commend Athletic Director Todd Boyer and Assistant Athletic Director Ron Arthur on a job well done.
Board Clerk April Stobbe announced that it is currently National Counselors Week and commended all SPS school counselors for their work. She also mentioned that February is Black History Month and Pottawatomie County Historical Society has published some photos from the 1950s of the Dunbar School.
Board Decisions
- all consent docket items;
- a Resolution for Schools and Libraries Universal Services (E-RATE) for 2021-22;
- the purchase of three buses through CARES II funds; and
- all personnel items as presented.
