New Bridge ~ Ensuring all students achieve academic excellence through relevant learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math!

To our New Bridge Family,

Happy New Year to all of you! We've all had a wonderful holiday break and are ready to get back to the important work of educating your amazing children! We have now completed our first 4 months of the school year. It's hard to believe it is January, and we still have much to accomplish in the remaining months of school. I'd like to start off by giving a huge shout out to New Bridge's amazing staff of teachers and support professionals and to our community partners. They give 100% every day because they are passionate about the success and well-being of our students. We have had some incredible learning experiences so far this year, and I hope you've been able to experience that in your family as well. I invite you to join me in recommitting to investing our time and energies into making the 2019-20 school year a year of learning and growth for every New Bridge Knight. Thank you for your continued support!

New Bridge Book Vending Machine

Big picture

Did you know?

The unveiling of our new book vending machine a few months ago has created no small stir! Students are working hard to achieve their individual & personalized reading goals in order to earn the special gold coin that is used for this book machine. Each student sets a goal with their teacher, tracks their progress, works for 30 or more days to achieve it, and then reports on their progress to the principal. Students are then recognized in morning announcements and invited to come down to get their gold coin. Some of the goals passed so far are increasing in reading fluency, improving in reading and writing vocabulary, and passing off Lexia levels. We've been fortunate to have had new books donated through a few Eagle Scout projects as well as other donors. Keep encouraging your little Knight to read, read, read!

Knight BINGO Celebrations - Do you have a "Noble Knight?"

Big picture

What is it?

Every day students have the opportunity to earn Noble Knight tickets from staff who notice them following the school rules: We are Respectful, Responsible, and Safe Learners! In addition, students are given tickets for following our 3 pillars of success which are: Scholarship, Leadership, and Moral Excellence. Each day we draw a name from each grade level to be recognized for earning a Noble Knight ticket. Those students' names then go up on the Principal's BINGO board. The first two rows of names to get BINGO are invited to a fun celebration that month. So far we've had "Recess and Donuts with the Principal" (yum), "PE with the Principal" (whew, I was sore from the hula hoop contest!), "Pizza with the Principal" and "Decorating Cookies with the Principal." (I sense a theme here...)

Anyways, we have a blast celebrating the good choices our students make. Every student has multiple opportunities to receive a ticket. Thousands are given each month! Extra thanks goes to our counselor, Mrs. Welch, and our School Community Coordinator, Mrs. Voraotsady, for getting it set up each month and our peer leaders (see below) for running our drawing each morning! Ask your student how they earn their Noble Knight tickets, and then celebrate their great choices with them!

STEM All Around!

December STEM Challenge? Air Powered Cars (or Sleighs) :)

This last month every student in attendance was able to participate in the Family STEM Event. How can you power a sleigh (or car) with air? Mr. Palmer, our STEM instructional coach, gave the challenge and materials, and students rose to that challenge! Every student who participated received a red knight produced on our very own 3-D printers. Thank you to all the parents who came and participated with their students! What's the next challenge? January 29 is our New Bridge Science & Engineering Fair (STEM). All students are invited to participate and earn a blue knight or possibly an event award. Participation packets were sent home before the holiday break. Additional packets are available in the office. Let's see what amazing investigations our students come up with!

STEM Fair Coming Soon!

Congratulations on your decision to participate in this year's STEM Fair! Please read this information packet carefully with a family member. It has the project guidelines and lots of helpful hints for you. We look forward to your project!

Additional English & Spanish packets are available in the front office.

Parent Communication

Parent Communication

New Bridge values parent/school communication!

  • Celebrate & Accentuate the Positive - Have something positive to share? We invite you to notify your child's teacher or the office. We love to hear about the great things that are happening in your child and family's life as a result of them attending New Bridge STEM School.
  • Seesaw - If you have not signed up for the Seesaw app and connected with your child's teacher, please set a goal to do so. Contact your child's teacher for more information.
  • Notes Home - Make a habit of asking your child for notes that have been sent home. Check that backpack regularly. Most notes that go home in paper format are also posted on Seesaw.
  • Peachjar - Are you getting the Peachjar flyers? Check the school website at https://newbridge.ogdensd.org/ for community events happening that impact our students. Click on the parent tab and look for the Peachjar logo on the right side of the page.
  • Facebook - Visit our Facebook page for updates on events happening at New Bridge.
  • Instagram - If you haven't noticed, we have the MOST amazing library clerks ever! Follow New Bridge Library on Instagram!
  • Concern - Do you have an important concern you'd like to let an administrator know about? Check in at the office and ask for a patron concern form. Your feedback is important to the success of all students at New Bridge.
