CARLSON COURIER
Home of the Champions
Greetings Champions,
Hard to believe we just completed our first full week of school. The progress we've made in just 8 short days has been remarkable. Thank you for your patience, cooperation and support during this transition time. I know pick up and drop off takes some getting used to and will only improve each week. And really for this to happen we need everyone to follow the same routines. They were posted in last weeks newsletter. I can assure you we will have all students picked up consistently by 3:15 PM. And for everyone parking off campus and meeting students please be sure to use the designated crosswalks and follow our crossing guards directions. This is for everyone's safety. And always be alert and not on your phone when moving through the line. We've seen too many close calls.
Also, thank you everyone for coming out to curriculum night and learning valuable ways to help support your student this year. We know its important to maintain a strong partnership in order for our students to be successful. We look forward to continuing to strengthen this relationship throughout the year. Please don't hesitate to reach out if there is anything that we can help with to better meet the needs of your child(ren).
Coming up this week all our Kindergarten through 3rd grade students will be Dibels testing. Dibels is a literacy screener that helps us identify and monitor student growth with respect to learning to read. In addition, all students K-6 will take part in benchmark testing over the next few weeks for both ELA and Math. This helps us gain valuable insight into where our students are at academically which in turn helps us plan instruction centered around their needs. And its Fall picture time already. You should have received an order form last week to order pictures. If not reach out to your child's teacher.
Finally, we are continuing to watch the number of cases in the state/county rise which I know has many of us concerned. Mask wearing continues to be optional and we have them for anyone that needs one. We are increasing efforts to keep our kids safe and will be communicating with you any cases that affect your child's classroom. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Week #3, here we go.
All the best,
Mr. Morgan

Current Safety Guidelines
Please notify our health assistant Mrs. Franco at franco.nohemi@cusd80.com and send her a copy of the test results. This is important so that we can get confirmation from the county. Once confirmed, we can begin notifying anyone deemed to have had close contact with the student that tested positive. Currently, close contact is defined as being less than 3 feet from someone for 15 minutes or more in a 24 hour period (cumulatively). If your child was in close contact you will be personally contacted and all quarantining procedures will be reviewed. As long as your student doesn’t have any COVID symptoms they are able to come to school. After all close contacts have been notified, a general exposure letter is sent to the class or classes affected. The classroom(s) will be thoroughly cleaned with hospital grade disinfectant.
